90 minute brewery tour
Guided beer tasting

James Boag has been quenching Aussie's thirsts since 1881, and you are invited to step inside his historic brewery for a fully guided 90-minute tour. Learn about the history of the brewery and the various stages of the brewing process before concluding with a tasting of four different beers.

This historic venue also boasts a bar serving food, a museum, a gift shop and newly renovated beer garden to relax and enjoy some further refreshments upon completion of the tour.

Session Length

This experience is 90 minutes in duration
Availability is seasonal (check supplier's website for available departures). Closed Christmas Day
You must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the tour departure

Guidelines

You must be 18 years and older to consume alcohol; ID may be required
Children must be 5 years or older and anyone aged 5-17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
This is a walking tour which includes a number of stairs
The brewery is a working site, there is no guarantee all elements of the brewery process will be operating at time of tour. The Brewery is largely non-operational from Thursday to Sunday and public holidays
Strictly no alcohol is to be consumed prior to going on tour
Bookings are essential

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Dress Code

Fully enclosed shoes must be worn - sneakers or boots are ideal.

Boags brewery tour

Clair was amazing. She was working on AFL grand final day but completed the tour with enthusiasm, professionalism and with a splash of comedy. She probably gets the same questions every tour but she answered them patiently and with considerable knowledge. We went back the next day for another beer off tap and different staff were just as friendly, They kindly offered to wrap my glass merch with bubble wrap and i’m happy to say they made it back to QLD perfectly.

This tour is awesome. The guide is friendly and very knowledgeable. She has just the right amount of spunk and information to make the tour fun while learning heaps about the Boag’s family and how beer is made. If you haven’t done the tour give it a go plus you get to taste beer at the end. What a bonus!!

Was late to my tour due to driving on highway from Hobart to Launceston but Red Ballon and the staff at the brewery were ultra helpful when it comes to helping out their customers. Bravo!

Our guide Corey was extremely passionate and enthusiastic and clearly loves his job. Extremely insightful and always happy to answer questions along the way, with a few dad’s jokes along the way. A pleasurable easy going experience as long as you’re able to manage some stairs. The best bit of the tour in my humble opinion is the tasting of a few of Tasmania’s exclusive beers by Boag’s just wish I could get them on the mainland but it’s an excuse to come back to Tasmania I guess.
