Treat someone to their first hour at the controls of an aircraft with a one hour introductory flight from Archerfield Airport, just 20 minutes south of Brisbane CBD. Your day starts on the ground with a full pre flight briefing and a safety check of the aircraft, so you know exactly what to expect before you climb aboard.

Once you are in the air, your experienced instructor hands over the controls and talks you through flying the local area, asking only for what you can comfortably manage. Most people find it surprisingly easy, and there is no pressure to be perfect: your instructor takes care of the landing while you simply enjoy the view. Every minute of flying time counts towards a Pilot Certificate, Recreational Pilot Licence, Private Pilot Licence or even a Commercial Pilot Licence, so it is a real first step for anyone who has ever dreamed of learning to fly. You will also take home free HD footage of your flight to share.

Session Length

This experience is approximately two hours in duration, including a 15 minute pre flight briefing and 60 minutes of flying time.
This experience operates seven days a week from 5am to 3pm

Guidelines

Maximum weight is 90kg
Minimum age is 12 years
Minimum height for this experience is 150 cm.
Maximum height for this experience is 195 cm.
Participants must sign up for free temporary membership with Recreational Aviation Australia before flying
Participants who have previously held a temporary membership, or who have flown more than 3 hours on their current temporary membership, must contact the experience provider before booking so alternative arrangements can be made
Participants fly one on one with their flight instructor
Participants who arrive on the day of their experience and do not adhere to these guidelines will forfeit their experience
During the summer months, flights before lunchtime are recommended for weather stability and participant comfort
This experience is not operated by the airport

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Spectators

Family and friends may watch from the ground under supervision from staff.

Weather

In extreme weather conditions the tour may be cancelled if safety is a concern, you will be contacted by the provider and rescheduled.

Dress Code

Comfortable clothes including enclosed shoes. Please bring sunglasses and a cap. Please remove all ear rings.

Such a great Christmas gift for our 17 year old that is considering becoming a pilot! His teacher was so friendly, knowledgeable and supportive and allowed him to take over the controls during the flight. She was wonderful and made his first flight lesson so much fun. He learnt so much about safety, flying and how to become a pilot. Highly recommend this experience, excellent value for money!

My partner got a discovery flight for me as a gift and may have accidentally awoken the pilot within. David was great to have up there for a first time experience flying a plane and I’m hoping to get up there again soon.
