Witness a magnificent procession of humpback whale migration along the east coast of Australia during this small-group whale watching cruise. Aboard an offshore catamaran with an experienced host, you will head straight into the Tasman Sea at high speeds and keep watch for these amazing animals.

Experience breath taking sightings of humpback whales as they make their migratory journey along the east coast on this exciting cruise. Departing from King Street Wharf #7, Darling Harbour you will motor straight to the Tasman Sea on board a 12 metre offshore catamaran at a swift speed of 18 knots. You'll be accompanied by a friendly skipper who is in constant contact with other boat drivers to find friendly whale pods and an experienced whale guide. Learn more about their behaviours and characteristics from your host as you become dazzled by them breach, jump and tailspin right before your eyes. The spectacle is truly unforgettable!

Session Length

This experience is approximately 2.5 hours in duration
Experience only available June - October

Restrictions

Passengers with back, neck, shoulder or heart conditions, those who are pregnant or who have injuries/conditions that may cause a risk to their health, do so at their own risk.

Guidelines

If whales are not spotted on a whale watching tour, each passenger will be issued with a ticket to come on another whale watching tour for free. The new ticket will be valid for 12 months from the date that the provider is permitted to operate at full capacity again (21 passengers)

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

Maximum of 34 participants.

Weather

In the event of rain or inclement weather your experience will still go ahead unless contacted by the experience provider.

Dress Code

Sunglasses and warm clothing are essential.

There is a toilet onboard. Please bring your own drinks, snacks and camera

A magical experience

The skipper did everything possible to give us an awesome experience. The guide really kept us engaged with an intelligent commentary and the photographer shared wonderful photos which we received at the end of the day. Would recommend Whale tales to anyone wanting to experience the humpback highway.

So much fun

I got this voucher for our family of 2 adults and 2 kids, and we all had so much fun. The guides were all polite and engaging and did their best to give us the best experience possible. We got to see a few whales, unfortunately no breaches, but still a spectacular experience nonetheless. The kids absolutely loved boat ride and got a real kick out of seeing the whales. We were extra lucky and got to see some dolphins too. My understanding is there is a requirement to stay a certain distance away from the whales and it was good to see ethical practices in place from this experience provider. Highly recommend the experience!

Awesome experience with the knowledgeable guys from whaletales. We got to see multiple pods of humpbacks and even some dolphins. The guys from whaletales were caring, friendly and approachable. They also set everyone's expectations and were very transparent. I would highly recommend this experience with the guys from whaletales.

Start off with the Crew was amazing, funny and extremely informative. I wouldn’t recommend any other company to go whale watching with, smaller vessel and less people which makes everything more comfortable other then packing as many people on board as possible. Was an amazing experience

Review of: Whale Watching Boat Trip in Sydney The whole experience was incredible! The boat was comfortable and clean, the crew couldn’t have been more informative and helpful, the ride in and out of Sydney was stunning and then the whales, I mean wow!!!! We’ve never seen anything like it! Multiple sightings of breaching mother and baby, lots of blows and tail flicking! Our whole family (kids 8,7,5) had the best time!!! Thank you so much!
