Qualified instructor and safety briefing

Enjoy a 20 minute introductory gliding flight and experience the freedom of soaring through the skies in a modern two-seat fibreglass sailplane. Meet your qualified instructor on arrival and receive an introduction to the glider and its controls before taking your place in the front seat, with your instructor seated behind you.

You'll be launched by a power plane to approximately 3,000 feet, where your instructor will conduct the launch and release before giving you the opportunity to try gliding for yourself. Take in peaceful views over the countryside as you choose your pace, from gentle turns and relaxed cruising to sharper turns and high or low speed runs.

As you approach the end of your flight, experience what it's like to join the circuit and attempt a pinpoint landing under your instructor's guidance. After landing, enjoy a debrief and have your friends and family capture photographs of your gliding adventure.

Guidelines

Bookings are essential
Minimum height 135cm and maximum height 198cm
Maximum weight 110kg
Participants will need to fill out and sign an Introductory Membership Application to the Gliding Federation of Australia and abide by those conditions

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

Maximum of one participant.

Spectators

Spectators are welcome to watch from the airfield.

Weather

In the event of rain or inclement weather your experience will still go ahead unless contacted by the experience provider.

Dress Code

Clothing suitable to the weather conditions on the day with long pants and closed toe shoes as these are mandatory. A hat, sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended.

It was a good experience

Had a great day for gliding and a great instructor. Was able to take over the controls a couple of times. Had great scenic views. Felt a little queasy when doing some of the tight turns but survived OK. The location was a little tricky to find but managed to get there without getting lost. There was confusion over the flight time because they booked me in at a different time than what I originally requested, but they managed to fit us in upon arrival.

Highly recommend flight in a glider

Geff was my pilot, Geff explained to me all the controls before taking off. Geff allowed me to have a go at the controls while up in the air, but the best bit for me was when i asked Geff to do a loop which Geff gave me to 2. I was able to take photos and videos now my workmates want to try it. Thank you Geff for all your knowledge and giving me a fabulous day.

This was a great experience and the Adelaide Soaring Club made me feel very welcome. The flight was superb and Stuart (my co-pilot) made me feel very safe and at ease. He was very informative and no question asked was considered to be 'dumb'. I would highly reccomend this experience, and can't wait to go up again with this club.
