This unique whale watching cruise departs from the Hervey Bay Marina and cruises through the Great Sandy Strait, past rugged untouched islands and the remote pristine western side of World Heritage listed K-Gari - Fraser Island. View the abundant marine life swimming in crystal clear waters before finding a pod of whales at play. Enjoy once in a lifetime up close and personal encounters with these majestic humpback whales, and marvel at their sheer size and athleticism, as they leap and dive through the deep blue ocean. You will also have access to unique water level viewing platform with underwater windows. The friendly, experienced staff will provide expert commentary during your cruise. Your tour concludes with a relaxing cruise back to the Hervey Bay Marina in air-conditioned comfort.

Session Length

This tour departs at 8.30am and returns at 12.30
Available 7 days per week during the whale season (mid July until the end of October)

Guidelines

This is a seasonal experience that runs from mid July until the end of October each year.

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

Minimum 6 passengers and a maximum 80 passengers.

Weather

In the event of rain or inclement weather your experience will still go ahead unless contacted by the experience provider. If your experience is cancelled your will be rescheduled by the provider.

Dress Code

Please bring a hat, sunscreen, jacket, and comfortable non slip shoes.

Absolutely amazing tour

Our Whale Watching Trip was absolutely amazing

We were a party of 6 friends who spent the morning on this amazing cruise. We spotted 24 whales, most of which came very close to the boat, breached, tail and fin slapped, rolled and generally put on an amazing show for us. During the cruise, one of our friends proposed to his partner. We had already enlisted the assistance of the crew and captain beforehand and they made what was already an incredible morning, the best experience ever for all of us. Thank you all so much. We will definitely be back.....

We purchased a Fraser Island Whale watching tour with Tasman Venture in Hervey Bay. What a great adventure. We managed to get up close with the wales and they seemed quite happy to come right up and say hello! Highly recommend this thanks to Tasman Venture and Red Balloon!!

We were a little early in the season, but still managed to see quite a couple of pods. 2 juveniles came so close to the boat you could almost touch them. Would highly recommend Tasman Adventure. Staff were excellent. Can wait to return!

It was a very slick operation which was everything that the website claimed it would be. The guide (Nicki) was very knowledgeable and delivered a most interesting presentation on whales. It was excellent for young children too.
