Crocodile Cruise Adventure with BBQ Lunch

Take a walk on the wild side on this crocodile cruise adventure! A courtesy coach will collect you up from your accommodation and transport you through endless fields of sugar cane and pastures to Glen Isla, near Proserpine, for your full day excursion. Your destination is the safari campsite, which is located in a unique tropical environment and is home to many species of native and migratory birds, mammals, reptiles and marine animals, including more than 100 estuarine crocodiles. Your experience is set to the background sounds of nature and you will feel like you are miles from civilisation, deep in the Australian bush, even though you are only 5 minutes from Proserpine and 30 minutes from Airlie Beach.

Cruise for 2 hours on the calm waters of Proserpine River to view saltwater crocodiles in their natural habitat. Experience a mangrove ecosystem and observe all of the interesting inhabitants there including birds, fish and crustaceans. Your expert local guide will take you safely through this unique environment and provide an informative and entertaining commentary throughout the day. You will also explore Goorganga Plains on a tractor-drawn wagon train and discover the vegetation and wildlife in a freshwater wetland habitat. Travel through a melaleuca forest as your guide explains and demonstrates the traditional uses that natives had for some of the plants in this habitat. Hear some fascinating facts about the history and geology of the area and see the land as early explorers saw it.

Bring an appetite with you on your safari because you will be well catered for during the day. A huge barbecue lunch including beef fillet steak, marinated chicken breast, barramundi fish fillets, beef sausages and barbecued onions are on the menu, together with a large selection of salads, bread rolls and traditional lamington cake for dessert. Morning or afternoon tea is also provided which consists of traditional billy tea and damper and these are prepared freshly onsite. You will also find out all about the Queensland mudcrab and their interesting life cycle. After your day in the bush, the tour concludes with drop-off back at your hotel.
