Take a walk on the wild side on this crocodile cruise adventure! A courtesy coach will collect you up from your accommodation and transport you through endless fields of sugar cane and pastures to Glen Isla, near Proserpine, for your full day excursion. Your destination is the safari campsite, which is located in a unique tropical environment and is home to many species of native and migratory birds, mammals, reptiles and marine animals, including more than 100 estuarine crocodiles. Your experience is set to the background sounds of nature and you will feel like you are miles from civilisation, deep in the Australian bush, even though you are only 5 minutes from Proserpine and 30 minutes from Airlie Beach.

Cruise for 2 hours on the calm waters of Proserpine River to view saltwater crocodiles in their natural habitat. Experience a mangrove ecosystem and observe all of the interesting inhabitants there including birds, fish and crustaceans. Your expert local guide will take you safely through this unique environment and provide an informative and entertaining commentary throughout the day. You will also explore Goorganga Plains on a tractor-drawn wagon train and discover the vegetation and wildlife in a freshwater wetland habitat. Travel through a melaleuca forest as your guide explains and demonstrates the traditional uses that natives had for some of the plants in this habitat. Hear some fascinating facts about the history and geology of the area and see the land as early explorers saw it.

Bring an appetite with you on your safari because you will be well catered for during the day. A huge barbecue lunch including beef fillet steak, marinated chicken breast, barramundi fish fillets, beef sausages and barbecued onions are on the menu, together with a large selection of salads, bread rolls and traditional lamington cake for dessert. Morning or afternoon tea is also provided which consists of traditional billy tea and damper and these are prepared freshly onsite. You will also find out all about the Queensland mudcrab and their interesting life cycle. After your day in the bush, the tour concludes with drop-off back at your hotel.

Numbers on the Day

The tour requires a minimum of 8 passengers to operate and has a maximum capacity of 31 passengers.

Weather

The experience provider operates in all weather, except in extreme or dangerous conditions. The majority of the tour activities are conducted under cover. The campsite base has a huge membrane/canopy covering it. The river boat has a large roof, as do the wetland wagon train carriages. Rain ponchos are provided as required to keep guests as comfortable as possible.

Dress Code

Binoculars, camera, hat, jacket or pullover for cool or windy days and sunscreen are recommended. Any type of footwear is appropriate.

This experience is located in the Whitsundays in Queensland and the tour operates at Glen Isla, just to the east of Proserpine.

Stu was a wealth of information and ensured we all got close up of the cross. Amazing. The food was fantastic all cooked by Ian. I would definitely recommend this adventure if coming to Airlie Beach.

Ian and Stu were absolute legends. Great meals by Ian and Stu was a wealth of knowledge, they couldnt have done any more to ensure we had a great experience. Lunch, damper and billie tea was perfect. Saw heaps of crocs and other wildlife.. plenty of time given for photos and very safe. A must do in this area.

We enjoyed that unique experience. Everything was beyond expectations. We were lucky to see quite a few big crocodiles within 2 meters distance from the boat and a lot of smaller ones toasting on the sun. Lunch and afternoon tea with a damper were delicious.

really enjoyed the crocodile safari , Mark and Ian ensured everyone got to have a good look at the crocodiles getting as close and safe as possible so we could take really good pictures afterwards stopping for a yummy BBQ lunch no one left hungry then for an awesome informative tour of the beautiful wetlands and seeing the wildlife there finishing off with some Billy tea and homemade fresh damper we had a really great day and loved this tour and would do it again highly recommended

My 10 year old granddaughter and I had a fabulous day experiencing the thrill of seeing these massive beasts in the wild . The hots were friendly informative and funny . The food was amazing. I highly recommend this as a must see adventure when you visit the Whitsundays. I have also experienced the Daintree Crock Safari but there were way more crocodiles on this one .
