★★★★★ ★★★★★ Recommended A tour de force of single malt whisky tours! David 3 May 2026 My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Chief's Son distillery tour last Saturday. The tour included a thorough explanation of the historical origins of whisky and how the distillery came into being. Stuart (or was it Stewart) was so knowledgeable and passionate about single malt whisky and his family distillery that it was inspirational on many fronts. The whisky stands up against any whisky being produced in this country as robust and made from the finest ingredients using distillation and barreling that provides tasty after tones. During the tour, you get to fill your own sample bottle of a varietal in barrel and taste the whisky as it develops its beautiful tones right through tot he final bottled version. I enjoyed the Sweat Peat Whisky but all four varietals tasted would comfortably sit on my single malt shelf. What Aussies (with a touch of Scottish heritage) can do when they put their minds to it is amazing. A thoroughly enjoyable two hours that left me wanting more both in terms of Stuart's knowledge and the whiskies themselves. This tour is thoroughly worth the short trip down to the Mornington Peninsula which is always worth a visit regardless of this gem of a whisky distillery. We were given an in-depth history of the brand Chief Son how it came to be and what this hard working company is all about. The presenter being a co owner shared his passionate introduction to what was his new career and showed patience and covered all aspects of the business. We experienced 4 Craft whiskeys tastings including a substantial cheese board and then taken to the engine room of distillery making to be showed how, why and the process of making this amazing product. As well as being able to draw and fill our own take home bottle 200mls. Then back to the tasting room to experience the higher end quality whiskeys on offer. All in all an amazing experience and well worth the time Throughly recommend as a must do experience and loved all avenues of it thank you
