Situated at one of the great capes of the world and where the Southern and Indian Oceans converge, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is mainland Australia's tallest lighthouse. Take a trip through maritime history as you climb to the top of this famous landmark with an expert guide. Hear stories of its construction from local limestone in 1895, how it is still a vital working lighthouse for vessels navigating the treacherous cape and of the lives of people who used to live there. Once you step out onto the balcony, gaze in awe at the seascape that surrounds you, witnessing powerful waves crashing and the rugged wilderness that lines the coastline.

Important information

  • This experience is 30 minutes in duration
  • Tours departs every half hour between 9am and 4:30pm daily
  • Not available Christmas Day

Children under the age of four aren't permitted to climb the lighthouse.

  • A moderate level of fitness is required as you must be able to walk up and down stairs
  • All children must be accompanied by an adult
  • Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
  • Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
  • Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

The tour requires a minimum of two adult participants to go ahead. Maximum of 10 participants per group.

The experience is not affected by the weather.

Comfortable closed-toe shoes are recommended.

This experience takes place just 10 minutes south of Augusta, WA.

Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse guided tour

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour, for people who usually like to do solo experiences and explore themselves we enjoyed all the information the guide shared. Murray was friendly and informative, we had only just experienced jewel cave the day before where he was also our guide. He should be commended for his communication and kindness. Unfortunately there was a bushfire so our visibility wasn’t great from the top which was a bit disappointing but the knowledge we gained and minimal views we did see still made it a great experience. The interpretive centre was also a highlight. The grounds are very well maintained and kept.
