Spend a few hours exploring the world of boutique gin in Byron Bay - there's loads to discover! Cape Byron Distillery is located in the hinterland of Byron Bay on the Brook family's macadamia farm and regenerated subtropical rainforest. The property sources many of the botanicals used for Brookie's Gin. This 2-2.5 hour tour includes a guided walk through their beautiful rainforest, and a gin and tonic on arrival into the Cape Byron Distillery. Here you will enjoy a gin tasting session as your knowledgable guide talks all about the art of distillation. At the end of this tour and tasting experience, you'll get to take home a Cape Byron Distillery Gift Pack which contains 50ml bottles of Brookie's Byron Dry Gin and Brookie's Byron Slow Gin, as well as a delicious blend of premium nuts from Brookfarm Brothers.

This experience is part of the Responsible range because they have regenerated and planted over 35,000 subtropical plants, use locally sourced botanicals and support the Big Scrub Landcare (BSL) group, whose mission is to preserve what is left and encourage other landowners to plant subtropical trees.

Tours start at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays and 2:30pm and 4:00pm on Fridays
Tours run for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes

Guidelines

Photo ID is required to participate in this tour and all guests must be 18 years of age
There is a level of walking through the rain forest and flat shoes are recommended

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Tranquil surroundings, greeted on the deck with a Brooke’s dry Gin and Tonic on arrival. The views on the deck are amazing. We were then explained the history of the property by our gorgeous guide Nat, we then did a rainforest tour. As we walked talked and smelt the local botanicals. We then concluded with a sampling and informative introduction to the amazing Brooke’s Gins. Way too nice. We concluded with a wonderful Gin Cocktail on the deck before buying some local Granola and some nuts. Faultless and a true highlight of our rent Byron Bay stay. Uber was about $40 but so worth every cent to immerse ourselves in such tranquility and devine tastes.

Great experience, delicious Gin, gorgeous property, very funny and knowledgable staff. Only reason I gave 4 stars is that the tour through the property could have been organised a little better and perhaps the guide needs a mic or something because it was very hard to hear what he was saying unless you were right up the front with him.

Informative Gin tasting and rainforest tour

We recently enjoyed a leisurely afternoon in the sun learning about the history of how cape Byron gin began, followed by a walk through the rainforest learning about its regeneration and some of the botanicals used by the distillery. Gin tasting was enjoyable and informative. Our only disappointment was no gin and tonic at start of our tour and no take home goodies.

If you haven’t been to this distillery yet and tried Brookies gin, it’s well worth doing so. Not only do you get to enjoy generous samples of their gin but the property is just stunning and staff really friendly and knowledgable, with Caroline taking us walking through their regenerated rainforest and explaining about how the different botanicals are used in the production of their spirits, making them so unique. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

Beautiful location for a wonderful tour, knowledgable and passionate staff made for a great afternoon. Our tour group was very big (around 30 people), I would recommend trying to book on a day with less people to make for a more intimate experience.

We had such an incredible experience and would HIGHLY recommend this tour! The gin is absolutely divine and walking the property and seeing and smelling some of the botanicals they use was so interesting to learn about! The staff are amazing and so friendly! They do a great job and were so informative! If your staying in town it’s only a $14 uber ride and you can drink and test all the different gins they make (they are DELICIOUS). We learnt how to taste/smell the gin, the steps in making and distilling, the process from turning dry gin into slow gin. You will thoroughly enjoy this experience!
