Cruise alongside some of Australia’s highest sea cliffs and drift up close to listen to the awesome Breathing Rock. Explore deep sea caves and pass through the narrow gap between the coast and The Monument, a tall, slender sea-stack. Feel the power of nature at the point where the Tasman Sea meets the might of the Southern Ocean. Look out for playful pods of common and bottlenose dolphins, and encounter playful Australian fur seals at Friar Rocks. If travelling during whale migration season (May-July and September-December), you may be lucky enough to observe the sheer grace of Humpback or Southern Right Whales.

The highly-trained interpretive guides love what they do – they work hard to ensure that the experience of all of their guests is fun, enjoyable, entertaining and informative.

The custom built yellow boats are ideal for viewing the spectacular coastline and wildlife of Bruny Island. Covered open-air tiered seating means an excellent all-round view, ideal for close encounters with the spectacular coastline and wildlife. Nicknamed the ‘4WD’s of the sea’ for their unequalled sea-keeping abilities these boats are safe, comfortable and gentle on the environment due to their fuel efficiency, low emission and quiet operation.

Session Length

This is a full day experience departing Hobart at 07:45am and returning to Hobart at 5:30pm. The wilderness cruise lasts 3 hours.

Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

Each of the vessels seats 43 guests and there are 5 boats in the Bruny Island Cruises fleet. Guests are accompanied by a local knowledgeable skipper and deckhand.

Weather

The boats are designed to make the most of any weather conditions. Bookings dates are fully flexible, customers are welcome to contact us directly to change their tour date at any time, subject to availability.

Dress Code

Passengers should dress warmly allowing for possible cold and windy conditions. Warm jackets, scarves, beanies and gloves are highly recommended.

This was an extraordinary experience that we would thoroughly recommend to people of all ages. The Pennicott team were beyond friendly, helpful and professional from beginning to end. The tour bus and ferry rides were fun albeit a bit quieter on the way back!! The scenery was incredible, amazing and beautiful. I was apprehensive about the boats/ water/ speed etc but did not stop smiling and laughing throughout the 3 hour ride, even with a 2-3 meter swell! Both the driver and deck hand were humorous and reassuring with our safety as their prime concern. Do it!

AMAZING DAY EXPERIENCE

This was the most breath-taking experience ever. It gives you the otherwise impossible opportunity to see this part of Australia. The whole tour was teeming with wildlife and natural beauty - from the dolphins and seals to majestic cliff faces and caves. The tour guides were phenomenal- so enthusiastic and really love what they do. If you're "umming and arring" about the price of this tour and if it's worth it, all we can say is that it's worth every single cent!

This trip was amazing from start to finish. Booking. Meet n greet, Ticketing pre tour talk. Bus ride . Driver brilliant commentary and driving. Excellent care and concern all the way . Boat was far better than expected. Bad, Dad jokes were fabulous as was his commentary and driving skills Restaurant staff was good as was the food. Don’t often give all stars but this was well deserved EXCELLENT DAY. thank you all

Wow, just wow! Friendly service from the moment you walk in the door. Great commentary on both the bus and the boat. The seals were on full display and the blow hole put on a great display. If you love nature and a rugged, untouched coastline, then this is a definate must do.

Pennticost tour in Hobart was amazing. We did the Bruny Island wilderness Cruise. Highly recommend it. From the tour, the operators in the staff especially Stanley and Liz were amazing. The food included was yum. A great experience next time when your in Hobart!
