Brave the raging torrents of Barron River with the ultimate white water river boarding experience in Australia! Enjoy an exhilarating adventure through extreme grade 2-3 rapids surrounded by beautiful, tropical rainforest located just a short drive away from Cairns!
This half day experience starts in Barron Gorge National Park, just below the beautiful Barron Falls and the Barron River hydro station. Here you'll get geared up in your wetsuit pants, knee and shin guards, a life jacket, fins and a helmet before taking to the water. An experienced guide will take you through a training session, which will teach you the basics in white water river boarding, how to use the board and how to swim through a rapid.
Once you've mastered the basics and have all the tips and tricks under your belt, the adventure officially begins! You'll conquer eleven rapids in the Barron River and come face-to-face with the ultimate test - a mighty grade 3 rapid called the 'Cheese Churn'. Feel the adrenaline pumping as you surge past each rapid and enjoy the beautiful feeling of accomplishment as you complete the adventure!
Please allow up to five hours for this experience.
A maximum of 36 participants can participate in this experience. There is a ratio of one guide for every six people.
Please bring sunscreen, swimmers and GoPro and attachments (must be hands free).
