Whether you're a family looking for a fun day out, a local looking for something new or a visitor to Sydney, drop into the Australian National Maritime Museum to uncover Australia's fascinating maritime history and explore one of the largest floating vessel collections in the world. This Big Ticket gives visitors the complete museum experience, providing full access to all exhibitions, activities, vessels and the 3D cinema (when it available). Walk in the footsteps of early explorers, view historical artefacts and climb aboard historic navy vessels, tall ships and a submarine (when it available). Stay for a few hours or spend the entire day.
For safety reasons, children have to be at least 90cm in height to board all vessels. Prams and baby carriers are not permitted on board tall ships, warships and submarine.
Once this experience has been confirmed, changes are at the discretion of the experience provider and arranged directly with them according to this policy:
For visitor safety, when the temperature reaches 36 degree celsius the provider closes all vessels. If it looks like a it's going to be a hot day, come early and see the vessels first. If extreme wet weather hits, the vessels are also closed for visitor safety. There's still lots of amazing things to enjoy inside the museum though, so don't let rain stop you from visiting!
Walking clothes with sensible shoes are suggested, as the museum is spread out over a large indoor / outdoor space and our vessels have stairs and ladders that may be narrow or steep. Bring hats and sun protection to prevent sunburn. Backpacks, large bags and other items like strollers can be securely checked in with our front desk staff so you can climb on the vessels safely. Note: Prams and baby carriers are not permitted on board tall ships, warships and submarine.
