Whether you're a family looking for a fun day out, a local looking for something new or a visitor to Sydney, drop into the Australian National Maritime Museum to uncover Australia's fascinating maritime history and explore one of the largest floating vessel collections in the world. This Big Ticket gives visitors the complete museum experience, providing full access to all exhibitions, activities, vessels and the 3D cinema (when it available). Walk in the footsteps of early explorers, view historical artefacts and climb aboard historic navy vessels, tall ships and a submarine (when it available). Stay for a few hours or spend the entire day.

Session Length

  • Opening hours from 10am–4pm daily, School Holiday 9.30am - 5pm except Christmas Day
  • Last boarding time for vessels is 3:10pm / School Holidays 4.10pm

    Restrictions

    For safety reasons, children have to be at least 90cm in height to board all vessels. Prams and baby carriers are not permitted on board tall ships, warships and submarine.

    Guidelines

    • Family ticket includes two adults and up to three children aged 4-15
    • Accepted concession cards - Australian full time student card, ISIC (International Student Card), Australian or New Zealand Senior, Australian Pensioner
    • Tours are subject to availability so make sure to check what's available when you arrive at the museum. Visit at www.sea.museum/visit/tours for more details
    • Endeavour and James Craig are operating ships that may be away sailing. Check daily availability via website www.sea.museum
    • On hot days to ensure visitor safety, the provider closes all vessels when the temperature reaches 36° degrees celsius

    Cancellation

    • Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
    • Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
    • Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

    Weather

    For visitor safety, when the temperature reaches 36 degree celsius the provider closes all vessels. If it looks like a it's going to be a hot day, come early and see the vessels first. If extreme wet weather hits, the vessels are also closed for visitor safety. There's still lots of amazing things to enjoy inside the museum though, so don't let rain stop you from visiting!

    Dress Code

    Walking clothes with sensible shoes are suggested, as the museum is spread out over a large indoor / outdoor space and our vessels have stairs and ladders that may be narrow or steep. Bring hats and sun protection to prevent sunburn. Backpacks, large bags and other items like strollers can be securely checked in with our front desk staff so you can climb on the vessels safely. Note: Prams and baby carriers are not permitted on board tall ships, warships and submarine.
