Spend an adventurous day abseiling and white water paddling outside Melbourne! We bring the paddles and the ropes, you bring your biggest smile! Only 30 minutes northeast of Melbourne, we're set up to give you a fun and varied experience... plus lunch... plus transfers... it's the perfect day out!

We usally start with abseiling. As you approach a cliff and it's time to face your fears! We'll strap you into the abseiling harness, with a helmet and gloves, and when you're ready it's time to go off the side of a cliff! Rappel down with great instruction from your friendly instructors. It's hard to believe it's all so close to the city - this reserve feels like a national park hours from anywhere. Then, it's a short stop nearby for lunch at your expense. Great choices from the local village cafes or bakery to suit every diet. When it's time to paddle - get on board these stable kayaks, decked out in our paddling gear and after a practice on flat water go for the ride of your life! Armed with the safety briefing you just had, you'll have to follow your guide & "go with the flow" along a 90-minute downstream paddle. These are Grade 2 rapids - so heaps of fun without getting too extreme! It's "Streaming" outdoors and a great way to spend the day - gain skills and make memories.

Session Length

This day runs from 9.30am to about 4pm with a break for lunch.

Guidelines

Average fitness is required for this experience - Abseiling requires walking up to the top along bush tracks. Sit in your kayak for the river journey and use your arms to paddle! A manageable whole body work out!

There is a minimum age of 8 and a maximum weight of 130kg

Adult: 17+

Child: 7-16 years

Cancellation

Change your booking date or names up to 7 days before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 7 days of your experience, unless due to medical issues
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

There will be up to 12 people in a group, and if you like to book more the supplier can arrange a trip of up to 20.

Spectators

Spectators are welcome but a fee may apply. Check with operator.

Weather

All tours are reconfirmed a few days prior when the weather forecast is more accurate. Sometimes we may abseil first and paddle in the afternoon or vice versa. Please check your final confirmation email sent a few days prior to your tour. If it's raining for your abseil and it can't go ahead due to safety reasons, we can reschedule your tour date for you.

Dress Code

Footwear needs to be worn on the river, and closed shoes are required for the abseil - runners are your best bet. Wear comfortable clothes suitable for the outdoors and the season. We suggest gym wear for both activities as synthetic dries quickly and offers sun protection or warmth as needed. Cotton and jeans are not suitable as they keep you cold when wet.

There are many options for accommodation nearby and The wonderful Warrandyte Market is on the first Saturday of every month too. Wineries, a cidery, quaint shops, cafes, riverside walk path and many other venues nearby help to make this adventure just part of a wonderful weekend break in the Yarra Valley.

Kathryn was an excellent guide - pleasant, knowledgeable and always looking to enhance the experience. The Yarra River was flowing quickly so we went 5 kms further than normal - great work!

Abseiling was confidently conducted, very low key approach at an achievable level for beginners. Barbie was an excellent instructor, very patient and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this day for anyone who wants to try these activities

We are not the sporty type. However our instructor was very patient and supportive. We had difficulty booking on the red balloon site. I had to have assistance from redballoon. This probably excluded a lot of people from doing the adventure that day.Being the only family on the trip that day made it extra special - like a private outing.

My partner and I had the best day. The guides were fantastic. The abseiling spot was perfect for we total novices. The kayaking was great fun as we paddled down the beautiful Yarra River with quite a few rapids to get through on our way. A great day out.

I really enjoyed my abseiling and white water kayaking experience as I gained new skills and had heaps of fun. Barbie was supportive and made sure that everything was clear. Overall I had a great day, the food was yummy and I would love to do it again.(Laura - age 13)
