Unwind in the Great Ocean Road with an overnight stay at a luxury, solar powered off-grid Remote cabin complete with plush Queen bedding and ensuite bathroom. This pet friendly accommodation is close to Melbourne but far enough to reconnect with nature and enjoy quality down time to recharge.

Hidden amongst the wilderness, the off-grid Govind cabin is approximately 3 hours from Melbourne. Boasting 360-degree views of the rolling hills, long grass and open sky, Govind is the perfect escape to hit the reset button and pets are welcome to join you. There is a 650m hike, (medium level difficulty) to access the cabin from where you park your car. The off-grid cabin comes complete with a Queen bed, ensuite bathroom featuring a hot shower and a kitchenette with all the creature comforts that you'll require for a cosy two-night stay. As night falls, take advantage of the open fire pit to roast some marshmallows or gaze at the stars while revelling in the serenity of the secluded location. A rejuvenating overnight stay awaits.

The duration of this experience is a 2 night stay
Check in from 3pm and check out by 11am

Minimum 3?night stay for the New Year’s Eve period. Mandatory check?in date is 30 December. The same requirement will also apply for the 2026 to 2027 holiday period. Additional fees or higher rates may apply during peak or special event periods, and these charges may be payable directly to Unyoked.

Restrictions

Guests of the Ottessa Cabin must be over the age of 18. You will receive an email with pre-arrival instructions upon booking the cabin. Additional house rules will also be provided in your field guide.

Guidelines

Guests must be over the age of 18
From December to April, the entire Macedon Ranges region usually enters a Fire Danger Period. No camp fires are permitted at your cabin during this time
The exact location of your cabin will provide upon booking
Cabins are located on rural and often undeveloped areas of land that are often not occupied by the Landowner all year round
Guest acknowledge that they are responsible for their own safety in and around the cabin and property
Additional house rules will be provided in your field guide
Midweek is Monday to Thursday
Subject to availability
Pets are welcome. There is a $40 pet fee which will be charged by Unyoked directly
Please note: All cabins have a minimum of 2-night stay on weekends.
Guests acknowledge that cars are not permitted past the car park and that fines are in place for breaking the parking rules

Cancellation

For changes made at least 30 days prior to arrival there is no cancellation fee and guests can choose to either reschedule, receive a gift voucher for the full amount
For changes made 15-30 days prior to arrival, there is a cancellation fee of 50% of the total booking amount (plus 5% processing fee).
For cancellations within 15 days prior to arrival there will be no refund, voucher or rebooking - partial or otherwise.
For early departures prior to your Departure Date, there will be no refund, voucher or rebooking - partial or otherwise

Weather

The cabin is a great place to be during the warmer and cooler months and even when it rains! During wet or poor weather, guests may be notified of a weather warning. In the event you are notified of a weather warning, there will be a place to park your vehicle/s in any alternative nominated wet weather zones.

Location

This experience is located in Great Ocean Rd, Johanna VIC. Govind sits on the traditional land of the the Gulidjan and Gadubanud people. It is an approximately 3 hour drive from Melbourne. Please note there is a 650 metre hike to the cabin from the car park.

Great 2 days

Had a great 2 night stay in May. Bit of a walk in with luggage, food and some wood, glad it wasn't wet. A working radio would have been good as no phone service. Wood heater worked perfectly, heated the room up quickly. Great view and lots of kangaroos. Tiny house had everything you needed except normal tea bags
