Have you had the chance to explore the Great Barrier Reef? Maybe you’ve been for a snorkel, but have you seen it from the air? It’s a pretty spectacular view! Cairns is the perfect place to explore the Great Barrier Reef and the stunning Daintree Rainforest. If you haven’t had the chance to spend much time in Cairns, make sure it’s on your list of places to see this year. Here are some ideas of things to do in Cairns the Port Douglas area (some of these experiences are pretty #BucketList worthy).
Scenic helicopter flight over the Great Barrier Reef
Flying over the Great Barrier Reef will take your breath away. The views are truly phenomenal. And the photos you’ll take out the window will be 100% Instagram-worthy.
Great Barrier Reef snorkelling cruise
Just want to see the fish? Spend the whole day fining Nemo on this full day snorkelling tour of the reef. You’ll visit two spectacular snorkelling locations with up to five hours of time in the water. All your equipment and food will be provided so you can just relax and enjoy the day.
Scenic flight catamaran trip and island visit
Short on time and want to see it all? On this experience, you’ll get to see the reef from the sky on a 45min scenic flight, followed by a catamaran cruise to Green Island where you can spend four hours enjoying the beach and snorkelling the reef.
Tandem skydive Cairns
Seeing the Great Barrier Reef is a bucket list item for most people, so while you’re in Cairns why not tick another bucket list item off your list and go skydiving! The views on the way down will be incredible!
World’s fastest Minjin Jungle Swing
This is one for the adventure seekers! Are you brave enough to take on the world’s fastest jungle swing? You’ll drip from 45m to 1m in just 3.5 seconds and reach speeds of up to 120km/h. This experience certainly isn’t for the faint hearted.
Cape Tribulation, Daintree and wildlife tour
While there is so much to see on the reef, don’t forget to make time to explore the beautiful rainforests of the region. This day trip takes you on a walk through the Daintree, a trip to a wildlife sanctuary as well as plenty of time to explore Cape Tribulation Beach.
Port Douglas beach getaway with breakfast
Got a special occasion to celebrate? Treat someone special to two nights of luxury in Port Douglas in a Eucalypt Bungalow with stunning forest views. This is a beautiful place to escape to and base yourselves while you explore everything this area has to offer.
