Not all holidays have to be grand overseas adventures. Sometimes it’s nice to surprise your partner with a weekend away or even a staycation in your own city. Planning a cheeky getaway with someone special? There are some truly beautiful places across Australia to relax and unwind with the one you love. From a weekend in the Whitsundays to a romantic getaway in Tassie – there’s something for everyone. Here are some ideas to get you started…

Rottnest Island

Home to crystal clear water, white sandy beaches and the cutest animal in the world (the Quokka!) Rottnest Island is the perfect place to escape. It’s easy to get around and there are a range of accommodation options with something for those looking for luxury to camping with the family. If you’re heading to WA anytime soon a trip to Rottnest is a must!

Tasmania

There are so many stunning parts of our southernmost state. Take a walk around Cradle Mountain, visit Wineglass Bay, indulge in a gourmet lunch on Bruny Island or meander through the Salamanca Markets in Hobart. Tassie is all about good food, wine and views – so you may as well share it with some good company!

The Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef

In the mood for a romantic island escape? Take some time out in The Whitsundays. If you’re after adventure, dive in and look for Nemo or take a scenic flight to Heart Reef. If you only want to relax – set yourself up on a banana lounge with a good book and don’t move! Sounds like total bliss, right?

Hunter Valley

Hunter Valley is the perfect weekend escape for Sydneysiders. Have a picnic among the vines, cruise the wineries or treat yourself to something really special – like a hot air balloon flight with champagne breakfast.
