During your next visit to the Vale, drop in to Maxwell, a gorgeous winery carved into a limestone hill in the heart of the region for a premium wine tasting. You'll head to the cellar door perched atop the vine-laced hill for an exquisite wine tasting flight, exploring the nuances in each drop brought about by time. Your tasting will be complemented with a selection of bite-sized curated chef snacks as well as stunning views of the luscious Fleurieu Peninsula that envelop you.

I recently visited Maxwell Wines for the wine tasting and canapés and it’s easy to see why this is one of our highest guest rated experiences in South Australia. The setting is great (with a crackling fireplace), the staff were welcoming and the whole experience feels relaxed from start to finish. The wines are high quality and well presented and the canapés were a standout. The quality of the food was exceptional and elevated. It’s well paced, delivered exactly as expected and suits anyone looking for a laid-back but still premium winery experience. One I’d happily recommend or gift.

A Wonderful Experience

We were made very welcome and shown our table with wonderful views. There was a fabulous selection of savoury and sweet food served beautifully with excellent table service. We highly recommend afternoon tea and would not hesitate to go again.

Maxwell Wines tasting with canapes experience was 1st class. The venue was very tastefully done and the staff were very knowledgeable about the wines we were given to sample. The paired canapes were delicious. Would definitely recommend a visit. The restaurant looked pretty good too!
