Jump on board for a half day learn to surf adventure! Small groups, uncrowded perfect waves and a great selection of beautiful beaches. The highly-qualified instructors at the surf school are dedicated to providing you with a totally awesome surfing experience.

Get picked up from the town centre or from your (selected) accommodation, meet your surf coaches, listen to some cool tunes and head down to the beach. The coaches will select the best beach for learning depending on the conditions that day (they have the widest selection of beaches).

During your surfing lesson your instructor will be in the water with you, helping with correct paddling techniques, teaching you how to catch waves and how to turn, and talking about wave selection and understanding the elements of the ocean. You will also learn about surf safety and awareness. The instructors go through thorough in-house performance assessment and training sessions on a regular basis and are hand-picked for their passion and enthusiasm for surfing. Great instructors make a world of difference! During your half-day surfing lesson you will get a taste of what it's like to live the life of a surfer as you cruise around in your group in search of pristine, uncrowded beaches! After your lesson you can to check out your surf photos and then get transferred back to your pick up location.

Session Length

This experience operates seven days a week
Not available Christmas Day and New Year's Day
Surfing lessons run morning and afternoon

Guidelines

Participants must be able to swim at least 50m unassisted. Surfing lessons are suitable for beginner to intermediate surfers.
The minimum age is 15 years old to participate in a group lesson

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 7 days before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 7 days of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

The price quoted is for one person. There will be a maximum of 20 people in the group with a ratio of eight students to one instructor.

Weather

In the event of rain or inclement weather your experience may be cancelled. You will be contacted by the experience provider and rescheduled.

Dress Code

Bring swimmers and a towel, sunscreen and a small amount of cash. Valuables should be left at home. Wetsuits and rash guards will be provided.

Other Info

You need to sign a waiver prior to participating in this experience. Wetsuits and rash guards will be provided, as will surfboards. Easy-to-ride learner boards are available for beginners.

This experience departs from Byron Bay, NSW. Beach location depends on day.

Half Day Surf Lesson

I'm almost 58 and my kids bought me this for my birthday. I got up first shot and surprised myself how easy it was. Loved it and am definitely doing it again :)

Had an excellent time surfing at Mojo Surf Byron! First time surfing, but the instructors made it exceptionally easy to follow and we were up standing on our boards in no time! Loved the attitude of the group, excellent surf instructors, I definitely recommend!

We had very choppy waves and a strong current the morning of our surf lesson which I found quite tiring, as a beginner, to battle against the oncoming waves with my heavy surfboard over and over again. I did swallow what felt like half the ocean at one stage so I took a breather out on the beach for a bit but the instructors were absolutely amazing, really encouraging and coaxed me back into the water for a little one on one... and by the end I was standing up on the board!! (Hurray) They are such pros and go out of their way to make sure everyone is safe while having a good time. I would definitely recommend this experience!

Was a great morning, the water was average condition but good enough to stand on the board plenty of time - not too bad for a 1st timer. Staff and facilities were very good and helpful.

Really fun half day with sone great trainers.

Awesome day with some really personalized help on the way through. The trainers did a great job of encouraging you while giving valuable advice. And all in a really fun atmosphere!
