Stocks and sauces play an important role in the culinary world as they form the basis of creating wonderful rich, flavoursome dishes. Now it's your chance to master these techniques in this hands-on cooking class and impress your friends and family with your delicious culinary creations.
Great cooks know how to make great stock. In this class, you learn how to make sensational stocks, with which you will make great sauces and soups. Good stock is the secret to enlivening your sauces and dishes. Cooking begins at 9am when you will get into the kitchen for an interactive morning of learning and fun. Chef will teach you a broad range of stocks, sauces and soups, such as beef, chicken, fish and crab, vegetable and ham stocks. Sauces include hollandaise, béchamel, crème pâtissière, soups such as gazpacho, chowders, hot and chilled, as well as a few extra dishes to include in the lunch. To learn to cook well you need to master the fundamentals of cookery; you need a solid knowledge of basic cooking principles, methods and techniques. It is from this mastery you are able to develop and produce wondrous dishes from your kitchen and wow all your friends. Master chef Julia Child said ‘Once you have mastered a technique, you barely have to look at a recipe again’.
Chef will teach you a broad range of stocks, sauces and soups, such as beef, chicken, fish and crab, vegetable and ham stocks. Sauces include hollandaise, béchamel, crème pâtissière, soups such as gazpacho, chowders as well as a few extras to include in the lunch. You will learn how to cook these successfully in a multitude of ways and you will have the opportunity to taste what is created. You will receive a comprehensive, thirty page recipe booklet to take home with your new found knowledge, as well as samples of your delicious creations and photographs from the day.
Day cooking classes are a full day from 8.45am – 3.30pm.

For safety reasons, it is advised to wear comfortable, covered-in shoes and have your hair tied back.
This experience offers a unique hands-on cooking class day, learning to cook whilst experiencing the glorious view of Port Phillip Bay. The class culminates with your wonderful luncheon, served at a beautifully set table, with local wine and interesting conversation. You feel like you are at a private dinner party. All classes cook appetizers, soups or entrées, main course and dessert.
