Meet your local snorkel guide at the world famous Shelly Beach only minutes from one of Sydneys most famous beaches Manly. Your guide will give you a great idea of what native marine life to keep your eye out for as well as talk to you about native wildlife, Australian environment and heritage.

Binoculars

Environment, heritage and cultural interpretation of area are key focuses of your guided snorkel and marine life tour. You will discover amazing marine species such as the Blue Groper, as well as endangered species. You'll learn about their critical habitats, and about the importance of Aquatic Reserves in their protection. Then, on the headland lookout walk, you'll search for more local wildlife, and your informative guide will provide special insight into their lives and habitats.

This experience is part of the Responsible range because they are ECO certified by Ecotourism Australia.

Important information

Session Length

This experience is 2.5 hours in duration including a headland walk, safety talk and how to use equipment brief and marine interpretation and snorkel
Available daily at 9:30am and 1pm
Arrive 10 minutes before tour start time to check in and find meeting spot. Late arrivals will miss the tour and be considered as a no show

Restrictions

All activities undertaken at own risk. You cannot participate if you are pregnant you or have medical issue which requires doctors clearance letter.

Guidelines

Must be able to swim 150 meters unassisted, float and tread water
Participants between the ages of 8 and 12 require parental supervision on tour in the water
Your health and safety is important - If you are pregnant unfortunately you are not permitted to come on the tour. If you have any medical issues please get your doctors approval and clearance letter if required
Drink water before the tour and apply sunscreen
All you belongings will be stored in our vehicle while on tour. Please ensure you have all your belongings secure in your bag to avoid forgetting any items when you leave

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

This tour runs with a maximum of 8 people and minimum 2 people.

Spectators

There is a nice cafe at Shelly Beach called the Boat House and seats near waters edge for spectators

Weather

In the event of rain or inclement weather your experience will still go ahead unless deemed unsafe. If the tour is cancelled you will be notified up to 2hrs before tour start time. Check email a few hrs prior to tour time.

Dress Code

Please wear comfortable shoes for the walk and swimwear for the snorkel. You may also want to bring a towel, hat, water and sunscreen.

Customers must complete an Online Pre Check In Form and inform guide of any medical conditions. Please complete before arrival.

Laid back adventure

Crystal clear conditions and plenty of fish to see. Large wrath and Port Jackson sharks drifted past. Appreciated the thick wetsuits because the water was pretty cold. Friendly guide who took good care of the less experienced group members. He was constantly on the look out for things for us to see to make our time memorable.

Even thought the tour guide was lovely, the tour it self seemed pointless. I could have borrowed a snorkel and gone out by myself. I feel it needed to take you somewhere where you actually need a guide. I wouldnt recommend it.

We did a guided snorkel with Damien who was very professional, friendly and informative. Despite being locals and with some snorkelling experience we all got a lot out of this experience (1 adult, 3 kids age 9-14). Damien pointed out all the interesting sea life we would have missed and helped us out in some quite challenging wave conditions and we all loved it! A terrific way to spend a school holiday morning. Would definitely recommend this.

Potential to be good

We were booked for the morning session at the guide's insistence as the waters would be calmer and clearer and parking more prevalent. Within 72 hours of our tour however, we were advised by email that we had been moved to the afternoon session, without reason. My boyfriend and I were the only 2 on the tour. Parking was impossible at that time of the day, the winds had whipped up and the waters were choppy and murky. Disappointing as the experience was a birthday gift for my boyfriend.

We had a fun time and saw beautiful fish! Our tour guide was fantastic ! He was very patient through out the day and definately made our experience more enjoyable.
