Bookended by scenic helicopter flights over the stunning Hoffnungsthal Valley, with birds-eye views of Australia's most haunted hotel and Map the Miner, this outback pub experience at the Wheatsheaf Hotel gives you a taste of the Australia outside the cities, as well as a classic pub lunch to enjoy.
Fantastic food and classic outback entertainment are what's on the cards with this unique outback experience that begins and ends with an incredible scenic helicopter flight from Hoffnungsthal Valley. Leaving from the Barossa Helicopters helipad, you will fly north over Rowland Flat, home of Jacob’s Creek and its huge wine tanks, with plenty of time to admire the view. Once you're over the valley floor, you will head northwest over Tanunda and Nuriootpa then direct to Allendale where you will land right next door to the Wheatsheaf Hotel. Here you will be looked after by Mark and Chelsea, the owners and operators of this classic Australian pub, receiving a complimentary drink on arrival and an awesome lunch.
Whilst at the Wheatsheaf you might even meet legendary local horseman, Tom Willoughby, who is known for dropping by to share some of his tall tales and introduce you to one of his movie star horses. Having acted in movies alongside Simon Baker and Sam Neil amongst others you might think these horses are used to the limelight, but they still l love a good scratch, are happy to pose for a selfie and will wait patiently while Tom has a beer with you. After lunch, you will take a return flight over historic Kapunda. home to Australia’s most haunted hotel, The North Kapunda Hotel, before heading home to the Hoffnungsthal Valley past Greenock.
