Savour a 30 minute sabrage masterclass in the Adelaide Hills, where the centuries old art of opening a bottle with a sabre becomes a celebration in itself. Set at a cellar door in Hahndorf, just 20 minutes from the Adelaide CBD and surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards, this is a wine experience with genuine theatre to it.
Your host begins with the story behind the tradition, steeped in Napoleonic legend and famously associated with Madame Clicquot, before walking you through a safety briefing and the technique itself. Then it is your turn. Take the sabre in hand, follow the seam of the bottle and feel the rush as the cork goes flying. With the hard work done, raise a glass and enjoy your freshly sabred bottle of premium sparkling on site, with the vineyards rolling away around you. Stay a little longer over lunch or a platter if the mood takes you, and let a spectacular opening turn into a slow afternoon in the Hills.
Spectators are welcome, however space is limited and all attendees must be included in the booking numbers.

Participants should wear smart casual attire with closed toe shoes, and are required to wear protective eyewear such as sunglasses or reading glasses along with a long sleeved shirt or jacket during the sabrage, which takes place outdoors.
