Prepare for the ultimate open-air adventure as you soar above Sydney Harbour and the Northern Beaches in the iconic Red Baron Open Cockpit Biplane, the Pitts Special - Sydney’s only open cockpit aircraft! This breathtaking experience showcases some of Sydney’s most famous landmarks, including the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Rose Bay, Mosman, Manly and Palm Beach, all enjoyed with nothing between you and the sky. Flying in an open cockpit aircraft puts you directly in the environment you’re viewing. Feel the wind rush past as you soar through the air, creating an immersive sensation similar to driving a fully convertible car (except you’re thousands of feet above the ground). When aerobatics are added to the mix, the experience intensifies even further, delivering a raw, exhilarating connection to the aircraft and the sky around you.

In addition to the harbour flight, this experience includes a spectacular low-level coastal pass at a minimum of 500 feet, starting at Manly and tracking all the way to Palm Beach. With views of the ocean below, keep an eye out for whales and pods of dolphins that are regularly spotted along the coastline. Once you've soaked in the scenery, the excitement steps up another level. Over Palm Beach and Barrenjoey Lighthouse, you can choose your aerobatics intensity - mild grade, intense grade, or both. Experience loops, rolls and hammerheads at speeds of up to 360 km/h, pulling between +4 and +6 Gs. For those feeling brave, you can even experience inverted flight (flying upside down), feeling negative G-forces as you hang upside down in the open cockpit, secured only by your harness. As one of our passengers once said, it's the best fun you can have with your clothes on! With the coastline and beaches above your head, it’s an unforgettable way to experience Sydney from the sky.

Please allow up two and a half hours for the whole experience
Check-in time is 15 minutes before your departure time
Flight time is 70 minutes

Guidelines

All passengers must be in good physical health
You must be over the age of 14 years to fly; those aged under 18 must have parental consent
Passengers will not be permitted to fly if they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Passengers are not permitted to carry anything on the flight as loose objects could pose a safety risk
Avoid alcohol, greasy foods, carbonated drinks and energy drinks before your flight.
For best results in avoiding motion sickness a light meal 1-2 hours before your flight is recommended.
If you have accessibility requirements please let the provider know in advance so they can make sure to have all the facilities you might require

All Sydney Harbour flights are subject to airways clearances from Sydney International Airport

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

Spectators

Friends and family are welcome to accompany you on the day. They can relax in our comfortable flight lounge while you enjoy the experience. They will join you for your mission briefing and photos as you walk out to the aircraft. Spectators can watch your departure and will be there to greet you on landing. After your flight, we’ll play your video on the big screen so you can relive the experience together.

Weather

Red Baron reserves the right to cancel or reschedule flights if conditions may affect the safety of the experience. Safety is always our highest priority. Weather conditions, aircraft serviceability and pilot availability may determine whether a flight can proceed at the scheduled date and time. If your flight is deemed unsuitable to operate, we will contact you to arrange an alternative time. Poor weather conditions may include, but are not limited to, low cloud cover, rain, adverse wind conditions, or forecast temperatures exceeding 33°C.

Dress Code

You will be suited up in a pilot flight suit, similar in specification to those used by the Australian and US Air Forces. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing suitable for the weather on the day. Enclosed shoes are required. Sunglasses and a hair tie for long hair are highly recommended.

Written on behalf of attendee. They loved it. Much better thrill than skydiving. Everyone involved was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. In very safe hands. We had to reschedule several times due to lockdown and weather and the guys were so accommodating. Great communication.

A great experience, very exciting, the aerobatics manoeuvres are great for adrenaline seekers. Staff was very friendly and professional. The business has been impacted by bush fires & Covid so defs recommend if you’re looking to add some excitement while we’re stuck in nsw.

Great experience flying in the Pitts Special, very unique. The aerobatics manoeuvres were very exciting, defs recommed for adrenaline seekers. Lachlan & Jared were very friendly and professional. One of many businesses that have been affected by the bushfires and Covid so give them a try if you’re looking to do something different while we’re all stuck in NSW.

This experience was absolutely incredible from start to finish! I felt safe and secure at all times as my pilot, Amir, talked me through every aerobatic move he was about to perform. From barrel rolls to loops to flying backwards, I felt both exhilarated and impressed at the pilot's skill. All of this paired with stunning views of Sydney, it is the perfect gift for yourself or the daredevil in your life! I urge you to add this one to your bucket list!
