Melbourne Star is one of the World's great observation wheels. Take in daytime AND night-time views of the beautiful city of Melbourne from a unique vantage point - up high! Climb aboard one of 21 completely enclosed air-conditioned cabins and enjoy 360°uninterrupted views across the Docklands precinct, Melbourne CBD, Dandenong Ranges and Mount Macedon as the wheel makes its way through the sky. Walk around and take in the views from all angles, while audio commentary gives you a brief introduction to the history and significance of the sights below. This unique experience allows you to experience the unique views of Melbourne at two different times of day. During the day take in the varied landscape of Melbourne and its surrounds and by night observe the stars and view the bright lights of Melbourne's skyline.

Session Length

  • Open daily from 11am; you can arrive anytime from 11am
  • Opening hours: May – August: 11am – 7pm; September – April: 11am – 10pm
  • On Christmas Day and ANZAC Day Melbourne Star opens at 1pm and the last departure is at 9:30pm
  • Please note: The last flight leaves 30 minutes before the advertised closing time and the last tickets are available 60 minutes before the closing time


  • Prams are excluded from the Melbourne Star infants must be carried
  • Walking frames and mobile scooters are excluded from the Melbourne Star
  • Non-motorised wheelchairs are available where passengers are unable to walk aboard unassisted

This voucher is for one person. There will be up to 20 passengers per cabin.


This experience is not suitable for spectators.


If operations are temporarily suspended due to adverse weather conditions or an unplanned closure, Melbourne Star will provide new tickets valid for a period of 12 months from the date of issue.

Other Info

Two flights cannot be taken consecutively – there must be at least 1 hour separating the flights and visitors may choose to complete their rides on an alternative date. The second flight has a validation date of 30 days after the first flight.
