Never set foot on a yacht before but want to have a go at learning the ropes? Conducted onboard one of our approved 40 foot training yachts, this practical, two-day, hands-on course will teach you the basics of sailing yachts!

All meals included

During your weekend sailing course, you will get to learn the basics of yachting onboard one of our 40 foot yachts. Spend a weekend away on the yacht, as we spend the night at anchor or another harbour and enjoy the delights of night sailing. The weekend course includes all meals whilst onboard the yacht (alcohol is not included). You will learn to steer the yacht and work the sails, whilst sailing the boat around beautiful Moreton Bay. The course teaches ropes & knots, how to work the sails and winches, steering and using the compass and safety on board. You will also gain some knowledge of charts and what the buoys and beacons mean. At the end of the course, not only will you understand the basics of yachting, you will be awarded the 'Start Yachting' certificate from the (Royal Yachting Association) RYA to prove it! No previous experience is necessary and for those who have sailed before, this is a great refresher or an ideal way to get more experience on the water.

Returns to marina at approx 4pm Sunday

Guidelines

Children 12-16 years must be accompanied by a parent / guardian
All meals included on this weekend course

Cancellation

One change per booking up to 14 days before the start time of your experience, at the discretion of SCY
Changes are not permitted within 14 days of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows result in forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

The price quoted is for one person. There will be up to four other students plus your instructor onboard. Possible cabin sharing can occur.

Weather

All sailing trips are weather dependent. Please provide a mobile phone number so that the supplier may contact you on the day of your cruise. If cruises are cancelled due to weather, the supplier will contact you ASAP to let you know. Cancelled experiences will be rescheduled for a later date.

Dress Code

Please bring a change of clothes, a warm jumper, a spray jacket, white-soled shoes, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and insect repellent. Bring clothes appropriate to the season and dont forget your swimmers and a towel. Please bring a sleeping bag and pillow.

Other Info

Please ensure that you arrive on time to the yacht for your experience (we cannot wait for late arrivals). At the end of your course, you will receive a sailing certificate and a log book.

Sailing on a 40ft Yacht -Overnight Stay

First time sailing, well organised, amazing 40ft yacht to sail on- spacious, clean and most importantly functional for our 2day sailing course!!! Our instructor, Roni was very patient, respectful and informative explaining sailing terms multiple times :) I am soo happy to say I can now sail after completing the practical sailing course achieving a new RYA qualification.Thanks to Roni! Not only did the team learn how to sail we managed to enjoy the beautiful sunrise & sunset, with the surprise of spotting dolphins and a whale. All round excellent experience!

Such beautiful scenery, meeting some brilliant people and enjoyed learning the ropes of the seas. The boat was beautiful and the instructor was really good helping everyone no matter what level anyone was.
