Feel a buzz of excitement during this hands-on beekeeping experience on Kangaroo Island. Suited up in a beekeeping outfit, you'll witness the workings of an operational hive, the smoking process and the busy bees at work, plus have the chance to hold a frame of bees and taste some delicious honey.
Step into the amazing world of beekeeping on the beautiful Kangaroo Island. This family-owned working honey farm is home to over 250 operational hives with up to 5000 resident bees per hive at any given time. After suiting up in your beekeeping outfit, you'll head out to the hives abuzz with excitement. You'll learn the workings of an operational hive, see the smoking process and open their home to check out the busy bees at work. Keep watch for the Queen Bee and see what the swarm does with honey, pollen and propolis within the hive. You'll also get to hold a frame of bees and touch the honeycomb, before moving to the shed to see how the extraction process works. Finish off with a delicious honey tasting - there are six varieties.
Children are welcome but must be accompanied by a paying adult and be at least 100cm tall.
