Soak up the beauty of the nation's capital from the clouds as you drift slowly in the sky in a hot air balloon. After the balloon inflation and take off, your fully qualified pilot will gently guide your balloon along the morning air currents, gifting you with stunning views of the cityscape illuminated by the rising sun.

View the magnificent edifice that is Parliament House and the elegantly laid out suburbs coming to life below. Admiring as the city is painted in sunrise hues, shining light on the landmarks below. Upon descent, enjoy a champagne celebration by the lakeside and the presentation of a personalised flight certificate.

Session Length

Please allow three hours for the entire experience
The flight is 45 minutes in duration
Available Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, dates during the Canberra Balloon Fiesta, and during winter

Guidelines

Minimum age is six years. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult
A minimum fitness level is required. You must be able to climb into the basket, unassisted and stand for flight
Please advise of any medical conditions at the time of booking
Participants must be 18 years and over to consume alcohol, photo ID may be required
Maximum weight of 140 kg per participant
Passengers can not fly with ongoing neck, back, or knee injuries
If you have had surgeries or broken bones within the past three months, or are currently under doctors supervision regarding surgery or injury, regardless of when surgery or injury occurred, you can not fly
You cannot fly if you are over 14 weeks pregnant

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 7 days before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 7 days of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

This voucher is valid for one person.

Weather

Flights may be rescheduled in the event of bad weather.

Dress Code

Wear clothes as for hiking, i.e. sturdy shoes that will keep your feet warm and dry and long pants.

Hot air balloon over Canberra with Balloon Aloft

Such a peaceful morning floating over the autumn colours of Canberra! The pilot, Kim, was very knowledgeable and entertaining and the ground crew were friendly and helpful. Helping to pack up the balloon was unexpected but a great experience. I particularly enjoyed walking inside the balloon before pack-up….so much bigger than I expected. Overall, a great morning.

The crews are really nice, funny and helpful. Our pilot Kim is amazing. He make sure we had fun while riding the balloon. The view is breathtaking. Such beautiful scenery. My favourite part is the landing where everyone work as a team. Also the best part being to be able to explore the inside of the hot air balloon.

We did like our balloon experience. It was nice to fly over the parliamentary triangle and on to Weston and see the views around us. Unfortunately our balloon ride was much too short timewise, lasting only 35 minutes in the air. The other balloon that lifted off with us just kept going and they would have seen so much more, enhancing their experience.

An amazing experience, from the setting up to floating across the Canberra sky and the breathtaking view below to being hands on in the packing away process and walking through the balloon, the whole morning was incredible. Highly recommended for locals looking for a new perspective and an unbeatable view of the city for visitors.

It is a beautiful experience but I would have liked more time with the experience. Our balloon didn't have much air time in comparison to the other balloon which flew at the same time. Having that comparison left me a little bit disappointed.

Kim and his crew were informative and guided us well in the whole process. We got to assist with the Setup and pack up all of which just made the whole Experience a lot of fun. we met new people and shared a champers with them at the end. Even heard the story about why champagne is associated with ballooning, and how French farmers would believe balloons to be bad spirits from the sky. Kim did a pin point perfect landing in a very small spot and didn’t damage any tree even though we were surrounded by them. The landing was light and well executed. Good job Kim!

My 3 children gave me a gift voucher for my 80th birthday. My wife accompanied me on the balloon flight. We found it to be a most amazing experience. We were both highly impressed with the professionalism of Kim, our pilot. His safety talks were clear and relevant. During the flight he pointed out features of interest and was only too willing to answer any questions regarding ballooning. The opportunity to assist in the pre-flight and post-flight preparations of the balloon were also fun and very interesting. Many thanks also to the ground crew Eric and Brendan, who were vital members of the crew.
