From arriving at Essendon and throughout the day they constantly made sure everything was going well and that everyone was enjoying the experience. Food & service was great at the restaurant and the sigh seeing has left me wanting to go back over and spend some more time there. I am an anxious flyer and not once did I feel uncomfortable, the pilots were awesome with a great sense of humour. Highly recommend this experience!

The plane was a real step back in time, but felt safe and comfortable at all times. The pilots and flight attendant were exceptional - a big thanks to them for making our trip so memorable. Carmel M 25 April 2022 We booked this fabulous experience to celebrate a birthday milestone as we wanted to do something special and out of the ordinary and have a fabulous special memory of the day. The Gooney Bird admin staff and all the flight crew were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! A special mention to Julie who was also AMAZING and she went over and above to make sure all the passengers were happy at all times. The below is NOT in any way a reflection on the Gooney Bird staff as they were all brilliant from start to finish. This trip is NOT cheap at $589pp. So our expectations were high to match this expensive experience day trip. Also Tassie & King Island are renowned for their produce and seafood. So again our expectations were high. We seriously thought we would be having a fabulous experience with lunch overlooking the ocean and that would be absolutely raving about this trip to all our friends long afterwards. Sadly, this is will not be the case. Our experience quickly took a nose dive when we entered the Boomerang Restaurant. It was disgusting from start to finish. Zero atmosphere, no wait staff except to delivery your meal, dirty windows, barely a wine to choose from which is why there's no wine list! The food was disgusting. We didn't expect to be served Chilli Plum Prawns with 1 minute microwave rice flavoured with turmeric. Since when is a Chinese dish served with Indian flavoured rice from a packet zapped in the microwave for 1 minute! We had to line up to buy drinks like we were in a cheap cafeteria. We were only given 2 wines to choose from as they had very minimal bottles on offer. I felt like we’d gone to a teetotallers home who were not expecting us. Tea & Coffee was also an additional $4.00 and even then they didn’t know if they had English Breakfast and the teabag dripping outta the cup was some unknown brand from god knows where. Others on the trip also found the food to be inedible and the restaurant experience absolutely appalling. When I queried the lack of wine on offer, I was told it was because the owners were changing hands in a few days. Knowing this made us furious. Why did the restaurant take the booking in the first place, knowing full well they were not going to provide a proper meal and service and meet people’s expectations? Thanks to the Boomerang Restaurant, our fabulous milestone birthday experience was ruined. Hence, why I have rated this experience ONLY a 1. RedBalloon null 26 April 2022

Larry 14 May 2019 This was an excellent experience from entering Hangar 5 at Essendon airport with a fascinating briefing about the DC3aircraft, the short and surprisingly comfortable journey to King Island complete with interesting commentary from the pilot to the comprehensive tour of King Island which included the sights of Currie and the King Island Dairy. Lunch at the Boomerang Restaurant was also excellent with a wide range of food choices, all prepared and served to perfection. Departure and arrival were as advertised and the whole day was one of the mo Re fascinating travel experiences we have had. The company is to be congratulated on putting together such a high quality experience.
