What's included?

30 minute flying lesson
Pre-flight briefing, including safety and a run-down of how to operate the aircraft
Highly professional instructor

Your experience begins when you arrive at the airport where you will undertake your pre-flight briefing, including safety and a run-down of how to operate the aircraft. Of course the plane is fitted with dual controls, so you can get the full flying experience with optimum safety. Jump into the pilot's seat with the instructor beside you. Get used to the controls before heading out onto the taxiway. Assist the pilot in the take off and fly like a bird! Once in the air, you can do as much or as little flying as you like - cameras are welcome! There is a designated flying region, but if there's somewhere nearby you'd particularly like to fly, we'll try to make it happen. How exciting is the landing? With your instructor assisting, you'll land the plane yourself! Taxi back to the hangar, ask questions and pat yourself on the back... you just landed an aeroplane!! This flying lesson is an experience you couldn't possibly forget - don't wait to take the experience of a lifetime!

This experience has only a height minimum of 5ft and weight maximum of 110kg.

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Weather

Obviously this experience is affected by high wind, lightning, low cloud and low visibility. Light rain is ok. If the experience does need to be rescheduled, there is no cost and we'll work around you!

Dress Code

Closed-in shoes are required, and we supply a headset!

I had an awesome time! I would definitely recommend this experience to heaps of friends and family. The "thrill" factor is insane!! Nothing that I could've prepared for in the slightest. Been thinking about it constantly since.. 5 stars!

I very memorable event in my life. Perfect weather, perfect scenery, perfect instructor, perfect training aircraft, perfect takeoff and a perfect landing. Like many I suppose would like longer flight time. Will endeavour to obtain my recreational license. Thank you Smartair and thank you RedBalloon.

My wife gifted me 3 of these experiences at once as a birthday present. I dropped into Smartair as they are local to me and asked how to make the most of my 3 sessions. They were happy for me to combine all three at once which made for a 90 minute flight. I booked in for the following week. La Nina means it is particularly wet at the moment but the people at Smartair, contacted me 3 times on the morning of my flight and arranged a contingency for the following week if the weather was too bad but we were able to put back my time by an hour which allowed the weather to clear and I was good to go. My instructor, Maz, was very professional and a lovely person. she instructed and assisted me so that most of the 90 minutes was with me doing the flying. We flew out to Corowa for a couple of circuits and bumps,(my second attempt was more bumpy than the first) and back to Albury via the training area over the Hume Dam. A thoroughly enjoyable experience, I loved every second of it. It was overcast with some low cloud about on the day so we were restricted to about 2500 feet but the view was spectacular as i could see all the detail on the ground and flying with the clouds was great fun. Smartair staff were a pleasure to deal with and made me feel very comfortable with every aspect of my experience both in the air and on the ground. I will recommend them to everyone.

I used my voucher yesterday at Smartair in Albury and it was a wonderful experience. The pilot, a young lady called Maz, was so capable and reassuring. We flew at such good height the scenery was amazing. - snow, flooded river, canola crops and it’s so peaceful up there and we were blessed with a clear blue sky !! It just finished too soon !!!

My first time in the pilot's seat courtesy of generous birthday voucher from family. Without a doubt this was the most surprising, exhilarating and challenging experience which I would highly recommend to anyone. Flying instructor Richard is so patient, knowledgeable and skilled which was very reassuring as I was challenged to climb, dive and bank the aircraft and exhilarated to take off and land. This was a fantastic taster and I look forward continuing my journey to the skies in the near future.

My flying lesson was the best experience I’ve had for years. Very raw feeling being in a small plane, great instructor, very good insight of the basic maintenance on a small plane. Loved it and got to take off and fly the plane myself for 20 mins. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
