Experience some of the magnificent resident birds of prey close-up during twice-daily Birds of Prey Encounters. Learn about the birds natural behaviours and unique sensory abilities used to track and catch prey. These encounters feature the rare opportunity to have your photograph taken with an owl.
Explore lush native bushland and encounter over 50 remarkable birds of prey at Capes Raptor Centre, just a five-minute drive from the Margaret River town centre. Join a twice-daily Bird of Prey Flight Display, where you will learn about raptors’ natural behaviours, hunting strategies, and exceptional sensory abilities. Finish with the chance to have a photograph taken beside an owl for a memorable experience. As Western Australia’s largest care and rehabilitation facility for birds of prey, Capes Raptor Centre provides a permanent home for eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, and other raptors that are unable to return to the wild. Each year, many more birds are successfully rehabilitated and released back into their natural habitat by the dedicated Capes Raptor Centre team. Before or after the flight display, walk the 1km Bird of Prey Trail situated in native bushland and view aviaries housing resident diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey.
The duration of this experience is 90 minutes.
Please be punctual, the encounters start on time. You can complete your bush walk before or after the encounter. We are open from 10am to 4pm.
Capes Raptor Centre is open rain or shine. The flight arena is partly sheltered, and our flight display may be adjusted to an undercover, up-close encounter depending on the weather.
