During this scuba diving adventure for certified divers you will explore the site of the HMAS Brisbane, located just off the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. While scuba diving you will not only get to explore the impressive ruins of the HMAS Brisbane, you will also see a wonderful range of marine life.
Dive one the world's best wreck sites, the Ex-HMAS Brisbane, a decommissioned guided missile destroyer. Located just 2.9 nautical miles offshore which makes it an easy venture out and is available to dive all year round. Sunreef has exclusive use of the two midship moorings, making for two leisurely dives that allow divers to comfortably and safely visit the entire wreck.
All participants must hold a current scuba divers certification or at least open-water dive and must have been scuba diving within the past two years. You need to bring your dive certification card or digital card with you on the day. This price DOES NOT include dive equipment but it can be hired for an additional cost on the day. Cameras can also be hired at an additional cost. Pregnant women are not allowed to participate in this experience.
On your arrival to Sunreef, we will check you in and see that your gear is organized, whether you prefer one of our staff to set up for you, or you would like to do it for yourself. We'll then depart out to the Ex-HMAS Brisbane. Each diver will be given a thorough briefing about the dive as the boat traverses the calm waters of the Mooloolah River. Once the boat is at the wreck and moored, the crew will help get divers into the water. The dive will last for 50 minutes, or as soon as a diver or their buddy reaches 50 bar, whichever comes first. The divers then return to the shop, where gear is washed for you.
The price quoted is for one person DOES NOT include any equipment. There will be a maximum of six divers per instructor and a maximum of 20 divers on board the dive boat. Minimum numbers apply to all trips.
If a spectator wishes to attend they will still pay the same charter price as they will take the place of a diver. Any person under the age of 18 years who is spectating must have an adult/guardian to spectate with them.
All customers MUST CONTACT the Dive Centre by phone between 3 and 5pm the day prior to their trip for a weather check and to confirm departure time. This is due to the weather dependent nature of the activity – if the weather is due to change later in the day, trips can be moved forward to avoid cancellation.
Guests should bring swimwear, a towel, dry clothes to change into, sunscreen, hat, camera or GoPro and their dive equipment (if not hiring).
You need to sign a diver statement before participating. All scuba equipment can be provided if required at extra charge payable on the day and is in excellent condition. A diving torch is required for all penetration dives (an extra charge applicable if required).
