Escape the city and discover the natural wonderland of the Victorian High Country on two wheels. From Beechworth to Bright, you will meander along the iconic Murray to Mountains Bike Trail, sampling local fare and admiring stunning scenic vistas along the way.

Framed by the Victorian Alps and dominated by the nearby Mount Buffalo, the Victorian High Country is picturesque in all seasons. Witness the diverse and ever-changing landscape of this stunning region during a four day cycling trip. Kicking off in Beechworth, you will pedal along the famous Murray to Mountains Bike Trail through the gold-mining town of Myrtleford before arriving into the heart of the High Country, Bright. Along the way, you will sample the region's produce and experience first hand the hospitality of local Victorians as you tackle the trail. On the third evening, you will explore the popular town of Bright before joining a tour of the revered Bright Brewery, which includes a tasting paddle. The trip is set at a comfortable pace so that you can take in the surrounding sights as best as possible.

  • Day 2: Myrtleford: Riding distance approximately 55km
  • Day 3: Bright: Riding distance approximately 30km
  • Day 4: Bright: Riding distance approximately 18km

Session Length

  • This experience is four days in duration
  • Starts on Day 1 at 5pm and finishes at 11am on Day 4 of the trip

Restrictions

The information listed in the itinerary is a guide to the approximate distances and terrain cycled each day. However, this may vary depending on the physical capabilities of the group, and changes to local conditions. For safety reasons, you only cycle during daylight hours, so there may be some early morning starts. Regular rest breaks taken throughout cycling days.

Guidelines

  • The minimum age is 15 years old
  • Participants must have travel insurance
  • Bicycles are included on this trip but you are welcome to bring your own bike should you choose. A discount of $100 will apply to those bringing their own bike - please contact the provider for more details
  • With relatively short cycling distances and even terrain this trip can be completed by almost anyone with a 'normal' degree of cycling fitness or experience. It should be noted however that the extremes of whether (both heat and cold) in the Victorian High Country can make the cycling more physically demanding than it may otherwise appear
  • Due to the relatively small distances cycled on this trip, there is a single leader that rides with the group
  • No support vehicle, but your luggage is transported for you from accommodation to accommodation each day

Cancellation

  • Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
  • Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
  • Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Weather

While temperatures are normally mild during the spring and autumn months, the surrounding mountains can have a sudden and changeable influence on the weather, bringing rain and wind. It is advisable to always check the weather forecast before you set off. Summer is usually hot but the altitude 500-600m above sea level keeps the temperatures manageable, with an average daily temperature of 28 degrees in January.

Dress Code

Helmets are compulsory and padded bike shorts, quick-dry jerseys and socks, cycling gloves and rain gear advisable. A full list of what to bring with you on the trip will be provided after booking.
