Come together to cook a meal for people in need across Sydney. You'll get busy in the kitchen transforming rescued food into nutritious dishes, that will be delivered to disadvantaged communities. Not only is this a fun and rewarding experience, but you'll take away practical skills and knowledge.
Give back to the community and add purpose to your everyday life by spending a few hours at Our Big Kitchen (OBK), a community run kitchen that distributes meals for disadvantaged people across Sydney. Pop on an apron and assist with a range of kitchen activities from food prep to cleaning, cooking to packaging. OBK works closely with organisations like SecondBite to minimise food waste and turn fresh produce into delicious home cooked meals, approved by top Australian nutritionists. By participating in this experience your time will make a huge difference to those in need but also 100% of the proceeds go back to OBK to help run the charity. Last year alone, over 80,000 meals were prepared and distributed to shelters across NSW including Salavation Army, St Vincent’s De Paul, Youth off the streets, Asylum Seekers and more. This fun, hands-on and rewarding experience gives back to the community, improves your culinary skills and lets you sample some of your efforts along the way.
