It's known as a foodie paradise for good reason, now you can discover Bruny Island for yourself on this guided one day tour out of Hobart. Explore world class beaches, rugged coastline and native wildlife, and prepare to feast on gourmet delights plucked fresh from the land and sea.
It's only a short ferry ride from mainland Tasmania, but Bruny Island feels like thousands of miles from anywhere. This scrubby wilderness is in fact two islands connected by a long, narrow sandbank called The Neck, and you'll be exploring both north and south islands on this one day guided tour from Hobart. If it looks familiar, that's because it is. The Neck has been hash-tagged thousands of times and was used as a location in the Netflix supernatural drama series, the Kettering Incident.
Set off in the morning on the beaten trails, and discover sparkling scalloped coastline, rugged lookouts and temperate rainforest known only to the locals. You'll visit the Neck for your own postcard-perfect Instagram shot, and weather permitting, get the chance to dip your toe in the water for a bracing swim. Look out for some of the wildlife unique to the island, including the rare white wallaby, echidnas, and fur and elephant seals. Lunch is either a gourmet sandwich or fresh caught fish and chips from Bruny Island Hotel or the Winery. It's only the beginning of an afternoon where you can meet the makers and sample delicious produce, including Bruny Island Co cheeses, fresh-shucked oysters, local wine, beer and cider, berries, chocolate fudge, and more from passionate producers who have put this micro island on the map.
A low to moderate level of fitness is required.
