Let your creative side run wild as you become a gin distiller for the day at Durand Distillery. On arrival, you'll be taken to your station which houses a hand-made Italian copper still, ready to be the fountain upon which you concoct your bespoke gin. A gin extraordinaire will guide you through the process of making your very own gin, using some of the most popular botanicals as well as some lesser known treasures. They will teach you the techniques used to craft their gins, giving you the confidence to roll up your sleeves and create something spectacular. Play around with a host of botanicals and once you have finished selecting, measuring and recording your recipes, it will be time to lift the lid on the still.

Enjoy a beautiful lunch while the stills work its magic, mixing all the flavours you have chosen. Once complete, your guide will measure and break back the spirit from still strength to bottle strength with pure water for a cleaner taste. Bottle and take home your gin, ready to be shared or enjoyed all on your own.

We haven’t had a session yet as Brett the facilitator advised us the cancellation of our booking due to renovation on the venue. We have waited for over 2 months now and no reschedule has been made for us either ☹️☹️☹️ I just honestly have to provide feedback on what’s happened to us so far. We probably will enjoy it when we experience it. I apologise for any inconvenience.

An Unforgettable Gin Making Experience!

Set at the beautiful Lindsay Wine Estate nestled in the Barossa Valley, only 1 hour from the Adelaide CBD, we were greeted by our host for the day. Master distiller Brett Durand took us through the history of Gin through an informative yet humorous lens and then the immersive experience began where we hand selected the botanicals and started making decisions around crafting our own Gin. Whilst our gin was being created in the still, we indulged on a lovely charcuterie platter, followed by a lunch prepared by Brett. Once the desired volume of 87% proof base was reached and density tested, we added the final liquid and transferred our own gin into the bottle which was sealed and ready to take home. Overall it was a really fun experience and a proud moment to walk out with a bottle of Gin that we so carefully crafted, to share with family and friends. I highly recommend this experience and although it's at the higher price end; it's definitely a worthwhile investment and a memorable way to spend an afternoon/evening in the stunning Barossa Valley.
