What's included?

  • 90-minute Aboriginal heritage walking tour
  • Knowledgeable Aboriginal guides
  • Local Aboriginal greeting
  • Learn some of the language spoken
  • Learn about the story of Aboriginal DreamTime, it's origin, history and culture
  • Opportunity to handle cultural objects and materials

The Dreamtime is the Aboriginal understanding of the world, of it's creation, and it's great stories. It is the beginning of knowledge, from which came the laws of existence.

This leisurely walkabout around The Rocks uncovers the authentic history of the Aboriginal people’s saltwater heritage within Sydney Harbour, their land, water use and spiritual connection to the adjoining waterways and foreshores. The tour begins with a local greeting before partaking in a cultural ceremony that acknowledges Earth Mother using her ochre. Discover how to experience contemporary Aboriginal society right in the heart of cosmopolitan Sydney today. Drawing upon knowledge populated from the oldest ecologists, conservationists, wildlife carers, botanists, astronomers, climatologists and marine biologists on the Earth today, the guides will explain how this ancient wisdom continues to reveal itself within the English settlement of The Rocks.

Great introduction into the aboriginal heritage. The friendly young guide shared some authentic experiences of growing up aboriginal in Australia. Would recommend.

The guide was great and the tour exciting

Andrea 13 March 2022

Everything was great, the guide ( Amanda ) was great and professional, it was so interesting knowing more about their culture

Should be compulsory for all locals!

Aunty Margret was an amazing guide, and the knowledge she shared was eye opening and so enjoyable - I was disappointed it was only 90 minutes! The introductory knowledge I now have on landguage has made me want to know so much more. The tour was in and around The Rocks, was at an easy pace, and would be suitable for most people. Thanks Aunty Margret!

Aboriginal Heritage Walk - Dreamtime Southern X

Margaret 8 November 2021

Fantastic experience. Margret our guide was brilliant. We learned so much about our country's Aboriginal culture that we were not aware of before. Would highly recommend this tour.

Exceptional experience

Charbel 15 August 2020

Being a tourist in your own city is completely underrated. Our walking tour was hosted by Margret, the founder of the company. In a couple of hours I learnt more than I ever learnt at school about Indigenous culture, their pain, the connection to Mother Earth and their love for all life. Do yourself a favour and take this tour. The least you’ll get is an appreciation for the trauma and generational hurt experienced by our First Nations People.

Fascinating tour with Aboriginal insight

David 3 December 2017

I'd really recommend this tour to both locals (we're from Sydney) and visitors. It's like seeing a city you think you know from a totally different perspective. Plants, flowers, rocks that you had never even noticed before are revealed by the guide to have all these amazing stories and significance.
