I chose the Hawthorn restaurant. The food and service were exceptional. For entree we shared garlic bread and calamari. For mains, we both had a 300g New Yorker steak with mash and we also ordered a side of onion rings and a side salad. Desert was a crème brûlée with a macaroon. Everything was excellent. Calamari was tender and the steak cooked perfectly as per our request. Nora was our server and she was outstanding, a real asset to the restaurant. She was friendly, welcoming and very attentive. We left her a more than deserved tip, so hope she was pleased. The card and candle on our desert was a nice touch. Overall, I was very happy with everything. If I had to be picky, the view from the window was of the gym next door as we were seated in the terrace, not ideal but didn’t impact the rest of our wonderful evening. Thanks again! The wonderful staff at red balloon allowed me to swap it for another experience. I chose Meat & Wine in Hawthorn East and it was sensational. It was a 3 course experience for 2 with a glass of wine. There were four of us and we mostly had the steak for mains which was fantastic, the other courses were also really good although the fondant was a little heavy and the chocolate a bit sickly sweet, maybe should have been dark choc ? But otherwise thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back. The other meals being served to other tables also looked fantastic. We were given several options for each course and what we chose was definately well worth it, each selection was really good (not to mention the sauce that comes with the calamari - yum). Amy, who served us, was fantastic and really helpful. The only issue was that we were given a full menu by the person who greated and seated us and had to ask for the Dinner Experience for 2, but it wasn't a problem. Lovely ambiance and warm on a very cold night. We will definately be back very soon to try some of the other dishes on the full menu. Thanks for a wonderful night.
