★★★★★ ★★★★★ Summer heat is dangerous Steven 26 December 2024 We arrived excited for our experience and during the first few minutes were impressed with the layout and design language. However, it was a 35deg day (in the shade) and even hotter in the cabin. Black sure looks cool in the photos as the exterior (including a black tin roof) but it turned the cabin into a stove. As we know heat rises and the interior fan just blew it back down onto you. After 3 quick cold showers to regulate my temperature and adding a usb fan into the mix I started to fade. Back outside to hide in the shade only improved it by a couple of degrees but the flies and ants soon put paid to that. So once again I moved back inside (I’m only wearing my underware by this stage and it’s 4pm) and I start realising I’m showing the early signs of heat exhaustion even though I pumped myself with a lot of water. So unfortunately we both decided after 1 1/2hrs it was time to leave. It was probably closer to 40deg in that cabin and not a safe place to be. I just find it crazy that a box facing directly into the sun for the hottest part of the day is painted black. I guess for winter visitors it provides a little bit more warmth but hey, let them add a few extra layers and do what the Greeks do and paint it white to reflect the heat. Gutted. This is actually a health risk in these conditions and yet there is no mention of it anywhere on the website. It’s a hazard for sure for older visitors. The whole experience left a bitter taste and I was lucky my wife was so understanding. Customer Experience Hi Steven, thank you for sharing your feedback. ★★★★★ ★★★★★ Recommended Great cabin - pity about the smell Emma 19 August 2024 Beautiful cabin in the woods and we enjoyed our stay. There were very clear instructions on how access the property and, although rustic, it was well kitted out for our two night stay. We were even able to bring our cat with us, for a small fee! There was also an extremely entertaining and well written guide on making the most of being away from town (including how to find a good stick!). However, there are a couple of points that we believe people should know before staying. The cleanliness of the cabin wasn’t great and anything that was slightly harder to reach e.g. under the bed got absolutely no attention at all. We had to leave early due to the stink of the lavatory. Apparently the tank had been recently changed and the loo itself wasn’t too bad, however, we wonder if there had been a leak because there were sporadic waves of highly intense public urinal smell. It gave my husband a headache and the only way we could remedy it was light a fire and sit near the smoke - for which we had to pay an extra fee for the firewood. Lastly, there was a duty-phone person who we asked for help - to come and help us find the source of the smell in order to get rid of it - but after a delayed response, he couldn’t get in touch with the owner and could provide no assistance. We would like to stay again but wouldn’t unless they could guarantee they’ve addressed the cleanliness and smell. Customer Experience Hi Emma, Thanks for your feedback, I am sorry to hear you did not enjoy your experience.
