We're the proud new owners of the Guinness World Record for the world's largest surfing lesson. Because an Aussie Christmas isn't complete without surfing Santas - 320 of them to be exact.
The new record for the “world’s largest surf lesson” was officially announced by Guinness World Records at Bondi Beach on December 15, after 320 locals paddled out and participated in a 30 minute surf lesson from our supplier ‘Let’s Go Surfing’.
As our CEO Nick Baker said, “Surfing in December truly highlights the Australian summer Christmas. We were really excited to work with ‘Let’s Go Surfing’ and with Bondi locals to break this record and to share an unforgettable RedBalloon experience with all 320 who participated. Today was a great example of what RedBalloon stands for at Christmas – that the best gifts cannot be wrapped.”
To further spread the spirt of Christmas, we donated $10 for every participant in the 250 needed to break the record to ‘One Wave’, a non-profit Bondi surf community raising awareness for mental health.
One Wave are an inspiring organisation that does fantastic work with the community. We are thrilled to be able to support this like-minded group that understands the importance of positive experience to wellbeing.
You don't have to be wearing a Santa suit (or attempting a Guinness World Record) to hit the surf this summer. If you want to learn to surf you can opt for one-on-one or group surfing lessons or even go away for the weekend on a surf camp. Find out more about our surfing experiences here.
Surf lessons are just some of the thousands of experiences offered this Christmas. With the 25th of December just around the corner, we're making it easier for Aussies to find truly special presents with an expanded range of over 3,000 experiential and personalised gifts.
