RedBalloon breaks another Guinness World Record

by Trisha Mee

It's official! RedBalloon is the Guinness World Record holder for the most tandem parachute jumps in 8 hours! One-hundred-and-fifty-five RedBalloon fans, friends, staff members and celebrities converged on Skydive the Beach at Wollongong on Saturday 17 December excited and anxious to make their jump from 14,000ft up in the air. And seeing as Christmas is just a around the corner, it only seemed fitting that all skydivers donned Santa suits and elf costumes.

RedBalloon CEO Nick Baker put new meaning to 'fearless leader' by being one of the first to skydive. "We're absolutely thrilled at the outcome of the attempt and to have achieved another Guinness World Records title," he said. "We broke the Guinness World Records title for the world's largest surf lesson last year and had such a blast that we wanted to do something even more thrilling this year. It's becoming a bit of a RedBalloon Christmas tradition."

Celebrities who skydived today included Weekend Sunrise weather presenter, James Tobin, who did the weather forecast as he parachuted over North Wollongong Beach and this year's The Bachelor contenders Olena Khamula, Keira Maguire, Noni Janur and Kiki Morris also took part. Tandem parachute jumps made by contestants from The Bachelorette and Australian Survivor helped to achieve this World Record attempt. And as if the experience of skydiving isn't memorable enough, Andrew Daddo jumped with his 76 year old mum!

To spread the joy of giving a little further, we donated $5,000 to Camp Quality to help give kids living with cancer and their families a brighter Christmas.

"RedBalloon is all about creating moments and that's something we definitely achieved today," said RedBalloon CEO, Nick Baker. "We hope that each and every participant had fun and relished the opportunity to tick skydiving off their bucket list, and that they leave today with another great Christmas memory."

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in this World Record making day and to everyone who helped make our Skydiving Santas event a huge success.
