A free weekend with no plans? We’ve got you. If you’re like us, sitting at home isn’t an option, especially when you could be out spending time with your friends or doing something completely random. Because we all know those days make for the best stories.
To save you the stress of finding fun things to do this weekend, here are ten rogue side quests worth doing.
Get lost, literally. Road trip somewhere you’ve never been, book a quick getaway, or pick a suburb you’ve never set foot in and spend the afternoon hitting its top-rated spots. Turns out, the best stories never start with “same place as last time?”.
Love yourself some oysters? Spend a day on the Hawkesbury River with this oyster farm experience and find out how your favourite entrée ends up on your plate. Scenic views, fresh air, a live shucking demonstration and the best part: a guided tasting. Honestly, you’ll never look at a dozen the same way again.

You might just find a new favourite event for the calendar. Or at the very least, a funny story about that time you randomly crashed an event.
Organise a mystery picnic and enjoy delicious food with a side of suspense. You’ll have no idea where you’re going until you solve your next clue, which is exactly the point. It’s also a cute one to do with your best friend or as a date, because you’ll figure it out together.
Head to a local thrift shop and see who can put together the best head-to-toe outfit. The challenge? Set yourself a budget you can’t go over. And if that’s too easy, pick an outfit for each other blindfolded, then wear it out to dinner (no changing allowed). You might end up with a few questionable looks, but it’ll make for a story you bring up every time you hang out.
No plans mean you can sleep in. Or wake up as early as you want. There’s something completely mesmerising about seeing those soft morning colours that never gets old. Book a hot air balloon experience, pull yourself out of bed and go watch the sunrise. Just make sure to pick a package that includes breakfast, because yes, brekkie counts as part of the quest.

Every time someone asks what you’re wearing, you’ve got a unique backstory ready to go when you tell them it’s your own scent, literally.
