Winton is a special place. A small country town of beautiful, rugged beauty; this unique location is home to many remarkable and sometimes peculiar attractions. Discover and explore them with this historical tour. You’ll board a comfy bus and your friendly, local guide will teach you about the rich history of the town and its surprisingly big impact on some quintessential Aussie cultural icons.
The landscape itself will impress with tonnes of photo ops at every turn. The typical Aussie outback setting; there’s stretches of bushland, red dirt, ancient rock formations, cattle stations and quirky public space art. One of the town’s claims to fame is being the first place Waltzing Matilda was performed, it was written at Dagworth Station – a cattle station just outside of Winton. The town also had an eventful ancient history; many dinosaur fossils have been uncovered here and there is even remnants of a dinosaur stampede in the form of footprints, or should we say, clawprints.

The tour will run with a minimum of 4 passengers and a maximum of 16. Please be aware this is not a private tour.
Tours will only be cancelled if the weather conditions are dangerous. The experience provider will confirm with you if they need to cancel a tour.
Wear comfortable clothing that you can be active in. Bring sunglasses, a hat and sunscreeen. Wear sensible closed in shoes you can walk in.
