An amazing airborne experience in a truly historic aircraft - the Harvard. Customise your flight to include a gentle and nostalgic cruise, or a lively sequence of aerobatics and attack manoeuvres - the choice is yours! Take in sensational 360 degree views of the stunning area around Hobart.
Your experience starts with an up-close familiarisation with the aircraft, where you can see the wonderful robust engineering of the 40s. After a brief about the safety equipment, aircraft systems and flight profile, you are strapped in to the rear cockpit of the Harvard, where the original cockpit and controls instantly takes you back to the 40s era.
The wonderful Pratt and Witney R1340 9 cylinder ‘Wasp’ radial engine bursts into life and after a short while you’re taxiing out for take off. Roaring down the runway you feel the tail lift up as you accelerate to take off speed. Once airborne, the amazing 360 degree views can really be appreciated, as your flight takes you past the beautiful scenery of Hobart and Mount Wellington, before heading down to Bruny Island and the edge of the Southern Ocean.
As an advanced fighter trainer, the Harvard is a highly capable aircraft which can perform aerobatics, dog-fighting manoeuvres and simulated ground attacks. These manoeuvres can be flown during any of our flights, but it is up to you how much or how little of this more dynamic stuff you do. Each flight is tailor-made to suit what you want, so you get the best possible experience.
Back to the airport for landing, you’re taxied in, followed by more photos of the occasion as you step out of the aircraft. The whole flight is videoed, so you can share the experience with others (additional $100, payable to the supplier on the day).
