Join this interactive photography workshop using Sydney's beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens as the canvas. Designed for all experience levels, you'll learn the ins and outs of macro and close-up photography from a professional whose expertise lies in close-up work and nature. Learn to bring textures, colours and shapes into the frame from an entirely new perspective and receive guidance on camera settings and composition. Leave with new skills, camera confidence and a bunch of photos you’re proud of! The perfect gift for lovers of photography or the great outdoors.

Session Length

  • This workshop operates once a month on a Sunday from 9am-1pm (winter schedule) and 2pm-6pm (daylight saving schedule)


    This workshop is generally accessible to everyone. Moderate to easy walking pace - some bending necessary for some subjects but not defined as necessary.


      • Suitable for beginners, amateurs and intermediate photographers who have a basic knowledge of their camera
      • NOTE: Participants must bring their own digital SLR camera or compact camera with manual settings and a built-in flash
      • Bring along a cleaning cloth, at least one extra memory card, at lease one spare of fully charged batteries, your camera manual, water bottle and snacks
      • Camera kits are available for hire if you want to experiment using a professional DSLR camera
      • Dietary food needs for health reasons is the responsibility of the participant


      Once this experience has been confirmed, changes are at the discretion of the experience provider and arranged directly with them according to this policy:

      • If you need to reschedule, the provider needs at least 14 days notice in writing otherwise an admin fee of 50% will be charged. The provider has the discretion to change or waiver these fees under exceptional circumstances

      Numbers on the Day

      Minimum four; maximum 10.


      Only by prior arrangement in cases of chaperoning participants under 16 years.


      If it looks as if the weather will be unsuitable on the day, the provider contact you early in the morning. In the event of cancellation, you can select an alternative workshop date.

      The provider is not responsible for any other costs which participants may incur including but not limited to travel, car rental, insurance, photographic purchases and/or rentals.
