On a clear day, you can see all the way to Bruny Island. If it's a Saturday, you'll get to stop by Salamanca Markets and wander among more than 300 stalls showcasing arts, crafts, jewellery, fresh food and produce, collectables and homewares. If not, head straight to Richmond and Australia's oldest bridge still in use, the Richmond Bridge. Admire the historic Georgian sandstone buildings in town and visit Australia's oldest Roman Catholic church while learning about the convict past.

After a tasting at Wicked Cheese, take your pick of two afternoon adventures: a trip to Bonorong Wildlife sanctuary to feed kangaroos, see emus, wombats and the rare Tasmanian Devil. Alternatively, deep-dive into the incredible modern art at world-famous Mona. With enough time and a fast-track ferry back to the city, you can even do both.
