Be immersed in complete darkness as you wander through a simulated Melbourne. You’ll explore a familiar Melbourne in a new way. Led by a guide with blindness or low vision, your tour lasts an hour, but the effects are life-changing as you discover just how much you can achieve and adapt to change.

Draw upon your senses to feel what life could be like with your sight reduced dramatically.

Dialogue in the Dark is a sensory journey in total darkness.

This completely immersive experience allows you to step outside of your comfort zone and into the shoes of a person with blindness or low vision.

During the one hour tour, you’re given a white cane to assist with wayfinding.

Your skilled guide who’ll have blindness or low vision will lead you on your journey through a series of simulated and familiar environments in the unfamiliarity of complete darkness.

Session Length

  • This tour is one hour and 10 minutes in duration
  • Open Tuesday to Sunday with tours running from 10am-5pm
  • Summer trading hours begin from 1st December, with tours running from 11am-6pm
  • Open Mondays in school holidays
  • Reduced tour times apply for public holidays and special events
  • Closure dates include 24th, 25th, 26th December 2018 and 1st January 2019

Guidelines

  • Children under the age of 5 are not permitted
  • Children aged between 5 and 15 must be accompanied by a paying parent or a legal guardian
  • All light-emitting devices such as watches, mobile phones, cameras, or other glow-in-the-dark items, including clothing and shoes, are not permitted. These and all loose items should be stowed in the provided secure lockers
  • Whilst the exhibition is a safe environment, women who are pregnant beyond 24 weeks take part at their own risk
  • Any person that is deemed by to be disorderly, affected by drugs or alcohol, who uses vulgar or abusive language will be removed from the exhibition and/or premises
  • Late-comers will not be admitted

Cancellation

Once this experience has been confirmed, changes are at the discretion of the experience provider and arranged with them directly according to their policy.
