Discover Australia's capital city Canberra, and visit some of the key landmarks and historic buildings that make this city so unique. This full day tour takes you from the Australian War Memorial and Parliament House to the shore along stunning Lake Burley Griffin.
Visit Australia's capital city of Canberra, with a morning stop at the quaint, charming township of Berrima, where you can treat yourself to morning tea (at your own expense) or take a short stroll through the picturesque village. On arrival into Canberra, travel to the summit of Mt Ainslie for a view of Canberra and surrounding mountain ranges. Next is a visit to the Australian War Memorial, with an interesting display of war relics. Hear the history of the ANZAC as you travel along the boulevard dedicated to the participants of two World Wars.
After lunch (at your own expense), join a private guided tour of either the National Museum of Australia or the National Gallery, depending on current exhibits and displays. Your day continues with a private guided tour of Parliament House, gaining an insight into the workings of the capital of Australia with the opportunity to view the Upper or Lower Houses of Parliament, when in session. See the Lodge, the Prime Minister’s official residence, and travel the pretty tree-lined streets and view diplomatic homes and embassies of many foreign ambassadors.
You will also view Captain Cook Memorial Fountain and the National Library, on the way to Lake Burley Griffin. The man-made Lake Burley Griffin offers beautiful parklands and walking tracks for locals to enjoy, and in the heart of the lake, features the Carillon Bell Tower, containing 55 working bronze bells. Your day ends with return transfers to Sydney, with a break in Goulburn for dinner (at your own expense).
