The infamous Boggo Road Gaol has a long, bloody past - it is one of Australia's oldest maximum security prisons and is the site of some very daring escapes! This tour will take you to the disused prison where your guide will entertain you with stories about escapes from Division 2.
Based on the book Boggo Road Gaol Escapes Volume One by Jack Sim, this tour takes you into the heritage listed prison grounds to learn about its frightening criminals and their daring escapes. Visit the historic Division Number 2, the Circle, D Wing Cell Block and more while your knowledgable guide entertains you with stories. The tour covers 'Slim' Halliday's (the Houdini of Boggo Road) two successful escapes from the maximum security prison in 1940 and 1946.
Once this experience has been confirmed, changes are at the discretion of the experience provider and arranged directly with them according to their policy:
Maximum of 40 people per public tour.
Tour runs in all weather, and will only be cancelled if weather conditions are dangerous.
Comfortable walking shoes must be worn. Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen recommended, especially in summer. Bring umbrellas/raincoats in wet weather. Dress suitably for the weather.
Recommended to bring a water bottle.
