Its stance as a small insignificant port and forgotten military base all but changed in February 1942, when the Bombing of Darwin rewrote the lives and cityscape of Darwin. This half day tour takes you back in time to that fateful day, including both a land based tour and a harbour cruise. You will spend the morning hearing stories, visiting sites that were hit by the Japanese air raids and seeing bunkers and WWII relics at the Charles Darwin National Park, before visiting the renowned Defence of Darwin Museum as well as the East Point Military precinct and the Myilly Point Heritage precinct. The tour continues out on the water, where you will embark on a one hour cruise on Darwin Harbour. See the historic Stokes Hill and Fort Hill wharf areas, the pearling luggers, wreck sites of the SS Neptuna and USS Peary and much more, before arriving at Cullen Bay to see the gun emplacements from the water.
