Out of the ashes, witness the incredible regeneration of the native flora and fauna of Kangaroo Island after the devastating summer bushfires during this personalised tour. Enjoy overnight accommodation on the island, learn more about the environment and its regrowth and see the iconic wildlife.
Badly blighted by the summer bushfires of 2020, Kangaroo Island has bounced back and taken on a new lease of life and beauty as it begins to regenerate. This personalised tour will guide you through the amazing regrowth of the flora and fauna, teach you about the flora and fire ecology of this wildlife haven as well as assist in the Island's recovery. Departing from Cape Jervis, enjoy the relaxing 45 minute ferry journey to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island, where you will be transferred to your accommodation at the Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge in American River with water views. The first stop of the next morning is at the stunning Seal Bay Conservation Park for a guided beach walk amongst wild Australian sea lions. Admire these wonderful endangered creatures frolic, play and rest on the beach right before you, a truly memorable experience. You'll then head down to Vivonne Bay beach to learn more about the area's coastal regeneration.
After a delicious lunch, continue travelling along the South Coast Road to Flinders Chase National Park where you will again witness the spectacular regeneration that is occurring, with green shoots, new leaves and regrowth abundant. Throughout the day, you'll have plenty of opportunities to stop for photos and learn more about the environment, and remember to watch out for echidnas, koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, goannas and the wonderful birdlife that call the island home. Your tour concludes back at Penneshaw for the return ferry and coach transfer back to Adelaide.
